Since this will be my first vehicle ever with a modem that I can connect to my cell service provider (for a fee) I'm assuming I will be able to make and receive calls without even having my phone with me? I'm also assuming I will be able to stream Pandora, Spotify, Soma FM, Sirius and others without using my phone? Say it's so.

No.

Satellite radio is its own thing separate from the wifi package. The truck has a built in satellite radio so you can pay for that service and it then you can use it without your phone since the radio is built in.

The internet hotspot, is internet only. It will get assigned a phonenumber, but you cant call it or call from it, its data only. As you can not load Pandora, Spotify or Soma FM directly to the head unit, because there is no app store, you will have to use your phone for those. With the internet package, you can stream them from your phone using the wifi your truck generates without consuming your phone data since its using the trucks data.

Thanks, so if that's the case is there any advantage to adding the vehicle to my cellular plan?

There is no option to do that. Ford manages the cellular connection from the day it’s built and the car uses it to transmit data back to Ford, download updates, offer you paid extras like Alexa, WiFi hotspot, etc.

Ok so it looks like I won't really be gaining anything over my old truck with my Pioneer head unit and Android Auto, except a bigger touch screen. I've been using Satellite radio over antenna in 2 cars but will cancel that on one car when I sell it leaving it on my wife's car only, however the plan on her car includes streaming so I'll probably just stream Sirius after my free trial runs out on the new Ranger. My favorite Sirius station is only available streaming anyway.
