How-to: use Siri to turn on your Ranger + other shortcuts!

I found the ford instructions for adding ford+alexa app so alexa would work to st3att the truck but i couldnt get it to work and now android auto no longer works, either.

I don't. I use everyday, many times a day.

I tested it and it worked. I typically only use Siri for very basic requests and this might just be the next one I use.

I dont know. I was at the part where the ford+alexa app was supposed to open. It got to the loading screen and froze. I googled it and alot of people said they had the same issue and couldnt fix it.

Prior to that, alexa is loaded to the truck and alexa app on the phone showed the truck but i couldnt get them to communicate and not being a computer guy, i didnt know what to do so i turned it all off. Then android auto wouldnt hook to my phone so i just closed the door and went inside.


Androod auto started working again when i left later but alexa doesnt show up on the truck anymore so who nows.

I just need one of my kids to mess with it. They are both iphoners and know how to mess with all the junk and make it work.

i followed the step by step instructions from the Reddit link on adding Siri. Went through all of the steps and I get a “vehicle not started (locked, unlocked, etc. ) thought I might have an issue with the password I entered, so I confirmed everything and then deleted all of the shortcuts and re-entered them. Same message.

Did you enter the correct vehicle VIN? Mine works just fine.

FordPass? Yes it is free and probably can just add it to your existing account. I got it for my wife’s 2020 Edge and added my Ranger. Then delete your 5g if you’re not keeping it.

I set this up about a month ago, and then the other day I had a handful of stuff and couldn't reach in my pocket for my keys so just hollered at my phone to unlock my truck and bam, tailgate unlocked and i could set down my stuff.

So new question, I tried the “Hey Siri, unlock my car “ with my phone in my pocket. Told me I had to unlock my phone first. Y’all leave your phones unlocked?

You are the second person telling me this. Apparently it takes a day or two to start working. Glad to know it worked!

Try this:

1. Open Shortcut app, find the shortcut you want to run while phone is locked, click the "..." button.

2. Click on the "i" button at the bottom.

3. Open the "privacy" tab.

4. Turn on the "allow running when locked" toggle.

Guys, some updates on this matter:

Found the guy responsible for developing those shortcuts. His nickname is HenryLink and he has a Discord community for discussing this topic: https://discord.com/channels/1172642880846844075/@home

There I found some new shortcuts, like a lot of useful status shortcuts. Now when I'm not sure if I locked my car, instead of giving a lock command I ask "is my car locked" and Siri answer me right away. He also published some EV shortcuts.

Anyway, here are the updated links:


Required Shortcuts
Each of these shortcuts is required for all other shortcuts to run properly.

1. FordPass Settings - Holds account and configuration information for use in other shortcuts.
2. Get FordPass Token - Sends login credentials from FordPass Settings to Ford's authentication service and returns an access token.
3. Get Autonomic Token - Sends the access token from Get FordPass Token to Ford's Autonomic API and returns an access token.
4. Execute Command - Sends the access token from Get Autonomic Token along with vehicle commands to the Autonomic API. All feature shortcuts run this shortcut.

Feature Shortcuts
All of these shortcuts run Execute Command but are completely optional.

Ignition

• Start My Car - Sends a request to start the vehicle.
• Stop My Car - Sends a request to cancel the remote start command.

Security

• Lock My Car - Sends a request to lock the vehicle.
• Unlock My Car - Sends a request to unlock the vehicle.

Status

• Is My Car Locked? - Requests the lock status of the vehicle.
• Is My Car Running? - Requests the ignition status of the vehicle.
• How Many Miles Are On My Car? - Requests the mileage of the vehicle.
• What's My Car's Range? - Requests the range of the vehicle in miles.
• What's My Car's Oil Life? - Requests the oil life of the vehicle.
• Where's My Car? - Requests the GPS location of the vehicle.
• Update Vehicle Status - Sends a request to update the vehicle status.

EVs

• What Is My EVs Range - Requests the range of the vehicle.
• What Is My EVs Battery Level - Requests the battery charge level of the vehicle.

Zone Lighting

• Turn On Zone Lighting - Sends a request to turn on all zone lighting.
• Turn Off Zone Lighting - Sends a request to turn off all zone lighting.

Other

• My Car - Consolidates vehicle commands into a selectable list.
