10,000 mile warranty if not caused by a chip or other damage. Mine cracked inexplicably in the first few thousand miles and Ford replaced it.

Worked at a dealership years ago and we had a ballpoint pen test. if you could "scribble" the pen across the crack and no where along did the pen find a spot where it clicked/caught on anything, then it was a stress crack and could be warrantied. Any place a stone or something damaged the glass, there will be a noticeable spot where the pen catches, you'll feel it, and that's where the impact happened = not warranty.

Is that a rock chip towards the top? Same happened to me on my last truck so close to the edge. The worse is when you drive a couple hundred miles to a dealership to buy a new car and get a huge rock chip on the drive home. Did that with a new Lexus a decade ago. Sucks, and I feel your pain.

Sure looks like that's the culprit. Probably would have heard when that happened too.

That makes perfect sense as to why mine got denied. I appreciate your insight

Zoom in on the photo and you’ll see it’s a rock chip.🇺🇸

Yeah, they looked at it for a while and agreed it was a stress crack. I actually saw the crack start. I was at a red light in Moab, just starting to turn right and suddenly it appeared right in front of my face from the left edge. No rock chip.

Of course, now I have two chips in my new windshield. I'm convinced the Ford glass is weak. I've driven miles and miles all over the country and tons off road and I've had as many crack/chips in this Ranger's windshield as in three previous Subarus combined.

Ford doesn't make the glass - Ford (along with almost all other car makes) uses either Saint-Gobain glass or FUYAO. You can check yours by looking at the lower left corner of your side windows and windscreen - there should be a manufactures label there

So there shouldn't be any difference in Ford OEM windscreen quality than any other car brand

It's probably more design of the hood, windscreen and height of the Ranger that is contrubuting to more stone chips than other cars you've owned?

Interesting. Do they make them all to the same specs?

Other people I've mentioned this to (including a thread here) said it's just bad luck, but I want to complain.

I would assume all glass manufactures need to produce the glass to a certain minimum safety standard - almost all car models are global nowdays, so I would also think the glass will need to be as strong as needed to statisfy all markets around the world

I'm almost certain car height and front end deisgn play a big part in collecting stone chips. I never had a single stone chip in my previous 3 cars (all wagons), I then had a VW SUV which needed a windscreen replaced due to a stone causing a crack, and I've also needed a windscreen replaced on my Ranger after just 5,000km. Both the VW and Ranger had boxy high front ends, where the wagons were all slopey and low front ends. Maybe just a coincidence... but doesn't feel like it

For reference the VW windscreen was also made by Saint-Gobain which is the same as my Ranger
