Hi, I just got my 6th gen Ranger with the Standard Tow Package. On my 2019 Ranger I installed a Redarc Controller, but I can't really find much online that makes me comfy installing one on the new Ranger, not to mention, I really don't want to drill a hole for the knob if I don't have to.

With that said, I bought a Curt Echo Bluetooth one. I have found a bunch of threads on it with positive comments, so I may be over-thinking this, but I feel like the length of the Curt Echo might cause damage to the 7 pin connector on the ranger. The weight of the cable will put a lot of stress on the connector. Or at least I fell like it will.

I thought about getting an extension 7 pin cable, but all of that I am finding have one end that is a panel mount.

Am I over thinking this? Is there any good advice on using one?

My trailer is not large at all (Hiker 5x9, so maybe 1800 Lbs fully loaded).

[EDIT] Also, do I have to have the app running under normal operation? When I set up the controller, it said that I did, or braking can be delayed. Everything I have read said that it didn't need to be running.

I use the Echo when we tow our 20ft Gulfstream. When it’s strapped into the connector, it feels secure to me. The app does need to be open when you’re towing, because the big red button applies the brakes to your trailer in the event of trailer sway.

you can buy the harness for the redarc to install it. I just installed the hopkins one for my tbc untill i got time to remove the radio to see if the intragrated tbc plug is taped to the main harness. no room with the trim pieces off to see without cutting part of the plastic support behind the trim piece. but if it is there, I got the part # for the tbc and the trim piece.

This was my solution. I just wasn't comfy with the amount of pressure on the connection. Ugly, but it only needs to be connected while driving.

Have you had any issues with the Red arc giving out random codes on this version of the ranger?
