Hi, I just got my 6th gen Ranger with the Standard Tow Package. On my 2019 Ranger I installed a Redarc Controller, but I can't really find much online that makes me comfy installing one on the new Ranger, not to mention, I really don't want to drill a hole for the knob if I don't have to.
With that said, I bought a Curt Echo Bluetooth one. I have found a bunch of threads on it with positive comments, so I may be over-thinking this, but I feel like the length of the Curt Echo might cause damage to the 7 pin connector on the ranger. The weight of the cable will put a lot of stress on the connector. Or at least I fell like it will.
I thought about getting an extension 7 pin cable, but all of that I am finding have one end that is a panel mount.
Am I over thinking this? Is there any good advice on using one?
My trailer is not large at all (Hiker 5x9, so maybe 1800 Lbs fully loaded).
[EDIT] Also, do I have to have the app running under normal operation? When I set up the controller, it said that I did, or braking can be delayed. Everything I have read said that it didn't need to be running.
