Hi there! Long lurker, first poster.
I'm considering a ranger that has the Advanced Tow Package, which I understand includes a factory/mopar proportional brake controller.
I have a trailer with an onboard brake controller (Tekonsha 902502 specifically). I love this controller ordinarily, since it doesn't require the tow vehicle to have a a brake controller - just a 7-pin connector.
My guess: I could/should NOT use this controller when an onboard brake controller (such as advanced tow) is operative. Could anyone with a better electrical understand confirm, and/or suggest if there is a way to bypass or disable the onboard controller (allowing use of the trailer controller)?
My assumption is when towing with this vehicle or any other with its own brake controller, we'll physically take the Tekonsha out of the loop and wire the trailer directly to the tow vehicle 7-pin. Thanks!
