I have been having some hard feelings the last few days, I own a 2025 Lariat Ranger 2.7L

I love the size exterior dimensions of my Ranger but not inside i feel i may have gone to small and the fuel economy in the city is as bad as my old F150. Im wondering if I should have bought a maverick hybrid.

I love my truck most days but am having buyers remorse... andnmissing my F150

Was hoping for some thoughts...

My issues is the interior is too small but I feel like when you go smaller you have a trade off. I was hoping at least better fuel economy.. but its almost the same which blows my hair back.

I switched from a Mercedes E350 sedan to a Ranger XLT FX4 4WD. I love everything about the truck expect the gas mileage. Even with the 2.3L, I get about 20mpg with mostly city driving, in eco mode all the time.
It's a tradeoff. I did test drive the Maverick as well, and to put your mind at ease a little, the Maverick doesn't feel like a truck, it feels like a rather cramped small SUV. Lot lower seating position than the Ranger as well.

I test drove a 25 maverick xl and a 24 ramger xl, back to back and took the exact same route to get as close a comparison as i could manage.

The ranger rode smoother, felt better built, and got better mileage with the 2.3 than the 2.0 maverick did.

And let me tell you, i really wanted a maverick. I test drove them many times, drove my uncle's xlt maverick (his is hybrid though, a no-go for me) and was really set on getting a maverick. I loved the size, the look, everything but the fwd set up, but i could have made due because its the perfect city truck.

And than that dang white 2024 ranger stx ruined the maverick plan. The ranger was just so much more vehicle for only abou 2k more dollars. My wife hated the mavericks but loved the ranger as soon as we sat in it. The ranger 2.3 was so powerful and smooth compared to the 2.0 in the maverick and the interior was so large and luxurious compared to the maverick.

So, now i have a beautiful comfortable 2024 stx 2wd ranger with the 2.3 that is perfevt for my wife and i. We travel all iver the usa in it and will travel even more of the usa as the next two or three years go by.

If you had the F150 with the 2.7 engine before, why are you surprised about the mpg's? I'm confused

Oh that was not clear, i have owned a few 2.7L F150s and they are very good this 2.7 Ranger is worse on fuel.. my F150 was a 3.5 Ecoboost

’ F150 to 23’ Mav to 24’ Ranger to 24’ Mav to finally a 24’ Ranger Raptor.

All roads lead to a Raptor

Real talk:

I greatly prefer the Ranger (non Raptor) over the MAV. Longer trips were uncomfortable and my knees always hit the edges of the door and center console. The truck was great in concept, but with real world applications it kind of sucked. I’d get a Santa Cruz before another Mav honestly. Agreed the F-150 is actually best, but the size was always an issue for me. I feel like mid-sized trucks are perfect and actually pretty big compared to full sized 80/90’s trucks.

Also the Mav was definitely made cheaper over all. It’s a 5 year truck at best, while a ranger could keep up for at least 15years.

I own both a 22 2.0 maverick and a 24 2.3 Ranger. The ranger get the same mpg as the maverick and feels more solid but gives a truck like ride because of the body on frame. The Maverick is quicker and gives a smoother ride and is a great truck if t ou don't need the towing capability. I drive both and have fun in both.
