Does anybody else hand-detail their RR suspension when they rotate tires?

I never had a reason to, but at 15,000 miles I started detailing the visible shock parts and both the control arms to keep them “eye popping”. I am a little embarrassed because I never cared before getting this truck, and I don’t bother at all with my #%^*+ rusted exhaust tips.

The truck affects me in weird ways after three years. I love it and would get another in a heartbeat if it got wrecked or stolen…. But on the other hand I am not overloading it with usele$$ bling. Am I alone?

My neighbors think I'm nuts as from day to day my truck can be either covered in dirt and sand or I'll be crawling underneath to clean those lovely orange Fox shocks after I wash the truck and finish with the wax n dry from Turtlewax. Would love to have some more beefy, spiffy looking orange UCAs that Fox is making now to make it even better to look at.

No I do the same thing! Except it’s when I do an oil change. I drive it up on 4 ramps for the o/c so the entire truck sits 6 1/2” higher. While the oil drains I’ll crawl around to each corner and wipe the Fox suspension (especially the orange bits) down and then hit it real quick with a detailer spray to keep crap from sticking. Anal & overkill and may seem stupid to some…….sure, but it’s by choice so I don’t give a rats ass!
So yeah…you’re not alone, HA!

I am (or was ?) a detailing freak. Still take care of my Golf R.

But with the RR, it's more removing the salt etc.... for maintenance and longevity let's say, but I don't really care about its look.

Desert sand looks good dirty....I'll wash it some day to put some paint protections....and maybe some photos of that rare event :D

Nope, but I get the cleaning obsession. You are proud of your truck, and want to keep it looking and working well. Nothing wrong with that unless it interferes with other stuff you should be doing instead. If not, enjoy the hobby.

I like keeping the wheel wells clean but I never even considered the shocks until now.
