think those are called "spline" bolts...they are pressed in to a hole that doesn't have those splines. It will be an interference fit

Even with a press sleeve and vice and hammering I couldn't make those budge, I do wonder if they are cryo frozen and put in during assembly because it's quite well fixed in there, interference indeed

So how'd u get them out?

Thankfully there was no need to remove them, I yoinked down on the lower control arm and forced the shock out from the top then just pulled out the bottom, that's how I was able to work on them on the bench

Oh yeah! As long as the truck is secured well included sides you can push/pull wrench pretty safely

What about pulling the cv joints apart? That was an issue some had with the 5g rangers. iirc
Some people pulled the axle nut which gave more flexibility.

I don't have experience with that as mine is 2wd but apparently you wouldn't want to pull the axle too far out pushing on lower control arm I guess

Agree, 1 1/2" level is the happy medium. That will leave you with some rake and the axle shafts will last longer.

If you change out the UCAs, I assume that will fix the axel shaft issue...?
