That didn't quite answer the question. Your opinion seems logical regarding the belt vs chain question. But why does that logic apply to the 2.7 vs the 2.3?

Again, assuming your opinion reflects Ford's, is the 2.3 a more highly stressed engine relative to the 2.7 and therefore has less margin for error? Or is the 2.3 motor fuel efficient to the degree that a wet oil pump belt offers even less marginal mpg improvement vs chain?

I understand these are your opinions, but I find the difference in approach between the two engines curios.
The 2.3L engine runs off a timing chain but is GDI without any valve injection to keep things clean. I chose to go with the 2.3L because of the chain knowing I will need valve cleaning service. As far as MPG's I'm routinely pulling between 27-29 mpg highway, 24mpg mixed city/highway driving, I'm pretty sure the 2.7L can't match. Hope that fills in some of the blanks I left.

I suggest full synth at all times.
I concur. I am not an "Engineer" but I am an actual highly trained and very experienced aircraft mechanic with over 30 years of experience with both Reciprocating and Gas Turbine engines. My first exposure to full synthetic oils was in Gas Turbine engines. Those engines rarely have their oil changed while the engines are installed, they will acclimate 1200 or more flight hours before removal for routing inspections (which are quite extensive when done.)
We also run full synthetic in Helicopter gearboxes with outstanding results. In both applications, we change/clean the oil filters and run Spectro-analysis on those oils to check for component wear and oil acidity.
Acid is the real killer in any oil and it builds up when the oil doesn't get run up to operating temps and then sits for extended periods; think short trips in your vehicle and then parking for a few days, like my Wife's Bronco Sport 2.0L. ;) This vehicle gets its oil changed yearly, without fail for this reason and what many would consider overkill it runs full syn.
I have been running full synthetic oils since the early 1970's and have never had an oil related problem.
Also don't skimp on oil filters!
Finally, go out of your way to buy TopTier gas. The video that started this post should be all you need to heed this advice...

I took away three fuel related lessons:
1. Top tier, just as you said
2. High octane when operating at high loads
3. Related to Top Tier, but use trusted fuel sources to the extent possible

Being well maintained doesn't give the whole picture. I can to oil changes every 3K miles, but if I'm constantly drag racing, doing jumps, or running at red line RPM for extended periods, those frequent oil changes won't do much good.

i have not watched the video. its too long and i would space out watching it if its not terribly interesting.

but, i see a comment or two on the dual injection is not keeping the valves clean, like its supposed to?

Happy to see similar results to the “wet belt”. With 3 tear downs it seems the video host has given up on his negative view on it, with similar condition of the belt. Looking at it on each video is a good thing. Fuel related, interesting…
Just imagining this engine failed during towing uphill and using cheap regular gas. Nice view of the intake valves. There is actually 3 versions of the 2.7, with the third in 2022.
