Extended Range Fuel Tank

Does it drip all over the place when you are done with it? I’ll be storing it along with a gas can in my bed once I get some molle panels installed on the inside bed sides. Just don’t want fuel dripping all over my spray in bed liner, in the off chance I needed to use it or swap for a fresh tank.

The rotopax are super well sealed, to the point that they actually bulge up when they are empty and it gets hot because the pressure inside cant escape. i have never had them leak other than when i am parked on a slope up or down and i make the stupid mistake of opening the lower one and the level of the fuel causes it to spill, but that is just because i am an idiot, not caused by the siphon or the gas can in any way. Hope that helps.

Has anybody installed a LRA tank yet? Looking at their site, they are emissions legal except California. They reuse all the original emissions stuff including the original fill location. They are very stout steel and internally baffled and do NOT require an additional skid plate. Considering the price of a replacement Ford plastic tank, the cost is quite competitive, if you install it yourself (six hours of labor!)

The weight of a full tank is considerable, the extra 15 gallons is 95 pounds, but obviously as you drive that goes down, and it is carried very low down. You can always partially fill it if you want to. You don’t have to carry all 35 gallons, except when you need that extra range…. I really hate carrying fuel in jerry cans. Does anybody know the weight of the Ford tank? I can’t find that spec - the LRA tank is 85 pounds.

Plus you can always sell your used Ford tank and get back maybe $1000.

It appears that these ship with the bottom part coated in bedliner or a similar material.

I wonder how these handle a serious collision, I expect that they would take out the nearby components more than the smaller plastic tank would.

The next to last step before fully tightening the mount bolts is “fill with gas and check for leaks”. So if you do this at home, you need to have 35 gallons of fresh gas handy. That complicates things.

Thanks for the share! Maybe soon well have a LR tank for the non-RRs. I was hoping for there to be somewhere between 20-30 gals stock, I wouldve assumed something like 22 or so. Theres definitely enough real estate Oh well maybe someday! I do like that 37 gals is stock in the 150s though!

I wonder if you guys could adapt an f150 tank to it, if there is enough room? Its very possible the pump mount and vent stuff is the same size/shape, except maybe the pump needs to have the tube lengthened so it sits down deep enough to reach the bottom

How much weight one of these 35 Gallon Tanks add?

Pretty easy to strap in three 5 gallon jugs and siphon as needed

Agree, I have submitted their request form and emailed their sales. A challenge I see is how few Rangers Ford is producing for US market to make LRA’s costs worthwhile.
