So I went to clean all the glass today and thought I'd clean those fingerprints off the rear view mirror that I've been noticing. Well they don't come off, they're on the inside of the glass! I stopped by the dealer and they took pics and are going to ask Ford what action, if any, to take. I would expect them to order me a new mirror. There is a very prominent one on the top, dead center and another on the right side 2/3 down along with a couple small scuff marks, all inside the glass. Anyone ever see anything like it? Dealership says they've never seen it before.

I dont think those are finger prints. I have seen that happen but on really old mirrors, never anything new.

That looks like the wire cover they use on everything now days. Like it was laying on the mirror for too long and stained it. That is what i have always seen cause it. It used to be a cloth tape material but now its usually a plastic mesh wrap.

Your on to something, plus the electrical tape they use now is a cloth type and resembles that pattern! I use that type myself the old stuff just makes a sticky mess! :)

Maybe I should try some lacquer thinner on it?

Can try but bet it's on the inside mirror film. Let us know, I'd want new mirrors if it is, that's what you paid for. Ranger on!
