We made it from south Texas up to Omaha Nebraska with zero issues.

1070 miles.

I am always amazed at how much the wind in south Texas effects the gas mileage. Once we got above Austin our gas milage went up by a couple mpg and we had cruise set at 80mpg the whole drive (except the 85mph parts between San Antonio and Austin on that bypass).

Cheapest gas was Texas and most expensive has been Nebraska.

The truck was perfect, like always. We drove from 11am to 930pm the first day and then 930am to 430pm the next day.

Its so funny how google maps always takes a person on these crazy routes saying they are the best fuel efficient, or avoiding lane closures, or whatever crap it comes up with. It took us through Iowa saying it was faster then just going to Omaha from Oklahoma city. It has never taken us that way before.

Oh well, it was another great trip in the 24 stx with the older 2.3 though. Not a hiccup or any questionable noise and it cruises all day long without issue.

The wind really highlights how this thing is just a box on wheels. Glad you had a great trip!

That $5.79/gal though, ouch!!

Nice detailed report, interesting how much the wind affects mileage. I would have never thunk that much!

I'm interested in the app you use to log the trip, is that on your laptop or pad or smartphone?

its an app/website called fuelly. I have been using the website for 10 or 15 years and its great, though i have never used the app. I use it to get real world idea on what Gas mileage vehicles get before I purchase a vehicle too since you can search by year, make, model, and some other little options to see what other owners are getting. If they make notes on stuff, you can see that too.

That is exactly what my son said. We are leaving tomorrow morning at 0700 to head back to hot and humid weather though so we are going to be complaining about the hot temps by Monday, ha ha ha.

The weather has been like our nice normal winters in south texas. In feb we get a week or two of 40s and then back to 60s/70s till may when the temps go back to 100+.

My son got orders to Georgia next year so this will be his last cold winter for a few years

Was the first half of the trip just the truck or truck & dolly?

How’s the mileage towing the E30?
We will find out tomorrow. Jason said when he towed it up here he ended up doing 75ish the whole way and got 17 or 18 in his old 24 4x4 stx. We will see what it ends up at.

Was the first half of the trip just the truck or truck & dolly?
Yes sir, just truck and a bin of tools under the tonneau because we changed Jason's upstair's bath tub to a walk in shower and he doesnt have many tools for that type of work.

I didnt think of taking a picture of the ranger with the 3 big boxes of the shower parts in it. The pan and end wall pieces fit in the bed but the back wall had to be strapped down in top of the rails for the 15 minute ride home. It was definitely another time I wished our trucks had 6 foot beds instead of 5 footers. I had straps criss crossing the big box on the rails and straps going from left to right across the back to keep the boxes in the bed from sliding out
