Ended up purchasing a black Softopper based on this! Let’s see how it goes!

So far I really like mine.
No leaks so far. I thought maybe the tie down caps would leak but so far so good.
Getting lots of rain right now and will have to check tomorrow when it let's up.
You're going to be disappointed when you check tomorrow. A few of us have done basic plugging of the side rails and still getting leaks.

I'm curious how mine will do in actual rain. So far all it's really seen is snow thaw, which leaks even with every round hole plugged up with grommets. There are a few rectangular holes I plan to tape up and others I might just fill with silicone.

I've been considering these. I believe I also saw a manufacturer that makes overlanding racks that will fit over soft toppers. Might be a custom ordered top for this, but it seems like the best of all worlds with a soft top, tonneau, and rack which are all fairly easy to remove or open when needing the bed for a scoop of mulch or similar.
Xtrusion Overland and KB Voodoo both make spectacular racks that go “on top” or rather, around, soft tops.
I personally don’t have a soft top but have a KB Voodoo rack, the CXR 6 pack, mounted on the factory roller installed on the RR and it is nothing short of a piece of art to me.
Pic for reference

Had some pretty steady rain and wind for 2 days.
I just checked this morning.
Have trace amounts of moisture. Might have been more during the rain but drained out. Truck is parked on a slight slope to the rear. No standing puddles anywhere.
From what I can tell my leaks appear to be from between the Ford rail caps and the bed. (Not sure how to seal these).
I can also see some daylight at some of the stitching holes. Seam sealer should resolve that.
My son said his came with seam sealer but that was 2019 before Bestop took over.
All said, I'm happy with it.

Got mine installed. Literal pain in the asssss… but I didn’t want a hard top as I want to get a rack over this at some point so I’m very happy with a cover.

Test fitment day with Softopper worked out perfectly, so I took one home the same day. Here is a quick video to check it out.

That looks great! If I wasn’t planning on putting a pop up camper on mine, I would actually consider one of these in sand color - would look great on my stealth ppf over shelter green and look absolutely army truck. The profile of these just looks so military cool! My son in law has one on his Tundra and also mountain bikes, sleeps in the back and whatnot, like yourself. He really likes it, and you can’t beat the value. Keep us posted on your experience.

Thanks for posting, and enjoy!

A great product. You are not going to remove a Hard Canopy for motorcycles.
Say something was bigger then the Bed width. Like a mattress. Just fold it down.
I still have an over 10 year old one on my 4G Ranger. That's a vehicle that is parked away from the Sun.. Never had the fabric rip around the buttons. Just the Vinyl window has to be replaced every so often. Crack's in Cold weather.

A few questions for those with Softopper on their Ranger Raptor...

Anyone have any more pictures of their Softopper on a Raptor? I haven't been able to see how it fits the body lines with the punched out fenders we have.

How is wind noise with a soft top? Do you notice it back there at highway speeds? I spend a fair amount of time around 80 mph and will go nuts if I have a bunch of fabric flapping.

Anyone folding theirs down to get a dirt bike or mountain bike in there? I've seen some pictures with Tacomas, but wanting to make sure that the bike's tire is hitting the bed and not hitting a folded down soft top.

So far I have 12,000 mi. with the soft topper. Some 80 mph thru Texas
No issues so far.
Only water leakage is between the plastic rail caps and body.
I have not folded mine yet. I did purchase the boot cover for when it's folded.
The topper itself is very easy to remove when folded. Pull 2 pins and it's off.
My son has same on a Tacoma and folds his pretty regularly.
Not sure if the dirt bike tires will hit but with the boot on it shouldn't hurt it.

Did they provide any spacers for the stake pockets to keep from crushing the bed rail caps when clamping down? Thanks

No. You don't need to clamp the rails that hard, it's only 30lbs of aluminum and sail cloth.

probably going to order one of these toppers tonight.

how was installation on our trucks? was it pretty straightforward with the included instructions? were there any custom modifications needed to get it attached? the fact that their website says our model topper fits rangers from 1978-2026 makes me a little concerned, lol.

especially since 78 was a full size and the 84-2011 were small trucks

RE: ordering the correct one. The SKU I ordered direct from Softopper (Black) for my '25 Raptor was SO-FR58O-BSR

It's worth noting that they currently have a 15% off deal right now that expires tonight should you make your decision, but it seems that that type of deal regularly happens for them. I think I got the same deal when I did a Black Friday sale with them for mine if I remember right.

This was my take on it from a different thread when I installed mine:

Got the Softopper on today. Install wasn’t terrible, but there were some hiccups. A couple of the spring buttons wouldn’t align to their corresponding holes. I tried all kinds of things, but ended up having to drill them out. This probably added almost an hour to the install since during the tinkering to try and get the buttons to align, my finger got caught and took off a pretty considerable chunk. Fun new blood spots on the garage floor now. Figured as it happened maybe two minutes after I took my gloves off for better dexterity

I also did it by myself. I don’t think this is an issue; it’s not difficult. But with it being brand new fabric and doing this in 30-something degree temperatures, it was a BEAR to get the snaps on. The snugness actually tweaked the mounting rails inward which makes the rear window flap bar mount not how I’d like. Everything works. I think I’ll just need to go back and readjust mounting once this thing loosens up a bit.

All in all, I think it’s pretty rad. A bit chuffed on needing to drill out the holes. There is some general direction on forward/aft placement, which I followed, but I’m thinking it may should be half an inch or maybe more closer to the cab. I’ll ride with it for a while and see where it goes. I was on the fence for tan vs black, but after my install experience… black is here to stay!
