So another thing I probably should have ordered was the trailer hitch with wiring. So my question is - if I buy this OEM link below, what is involved in getting the correct wiring done. I cannot find a harness anywhere. For all I know there might be a factory wiring there already. I can't be the first one to think about doing this. My alternative is go to Uhaul and let them install everything. Thoughts?

If it's like the 5G Ranger, the wiring will install inline on your frame rail and be pretty easy to do. It might be too early for anyone to have kits available though. eTrailer says this fits, but I bet it's for the 2019-23 Rangers. It could end up being the same. I installed this on my 5G. It comes with the wrong trailer plug for the bumper, so I had get the right kind myself.

As far as a hitch goes, they say they are actively working on a hitch. The OEM will fit better, but will undoubtedly be more work. Here's the install instruction for the OEM.

It might be a bit before anything aftermarket is available.

There are several manufactures already making rear bumper/hitches, front bumpers, ARB, Hamer. You have to remember, the 2024 next gen Ranger in America. Has been on the world stage for 2 years now. There are alot of accessories already.

The Ranger Raptor since 2017.

OP asked about trailer wiring. North America uses different trailer wiring than pretty much the rest of the world. A US 7 pin is completely different than an Australian one. Both are 7 pin, but the US standard combines brake and turn signals. Everyone else has separate bulbs for turn signals and combined brake lights. Australia uses a modified ISO, which includes electric trailer brakes. In Europe, surge brakes are king.

Here's the Wikipedia rabbit hole if you want to go down it.

I'm sure there are a lot of accessories available worldwide, but not a lot of US market ones. It is cool that we have a world truck though, because it opens up a lot of options.

Yes - I was wondering about the wiring if I bought the OEM Ford hitch. Like I originally posted - not even sure if the wiring is already there or if it has to be run. I guess I need to ask the parts guy at the dealership about what’s involved. I wish I had added this to my order in the beginning along with the integrated box steps ?

So while I was under my Lariat looking at how to drop the exhaust system to paint it black I noticed this electrical outlet on the back underside of the bumper and I think, and please correct me if I’m wrong, that is where you would plug in the trailer hitch wiring for breaks and blinkers only. Thoughts?

The 5G came with a 4pin like that if you didn't have the OEM hitch installed. The cool thing on mine was that after installing the 7pin wiring, that 4pin was still active. I used it for my hitch-packer, so the wiring was out of the way.

If you are just planning on running a trailer with a 4pin, then you won't need anything other than a hitch to tow. You'd need a 7pin and a TBC for a trailer with electric brakes, but if you were going to pull a trailer with surge brakes, you'd be good to go.

Yeah - something like a hitch packer, bike rack, etc. Maybe a car trailer for transporting a car for sale. But that trailer I would rent from u-haul.

When I first ordered my Ranger I did not have the hitch on the order. I went back in and added it. Glad I did. It should possibly have a pigtail on the drivers side where you can tap in.

FYI... Thats just for a trailer. For a trailer with brakes you need the 7 pin.

If that’s just for a trailer what is its function? I would think at the very least it would give you blinkers and brake lights on said trailer - no?

This is a standard 4 pin trailer connection that provides blinker, brakes, and running lights. All trailers have at least that. So with this, tow any trailer under 4500lbs (some states I think vary that #), as anything above that requires brakes.

Thanks - if that’s the case then I’m all set. I will never be towing anything more then a light trailer. All I would ever need is blinkers and brake lights and if this 4 pin will take care of that then the only thing I need to order is the OEM Ford Trailer Hitch for $600 from my dealership. I can probably get them to give me a discount on that or a free installation on the hitch.

I know you don't have any trailer package but why wouldn't the put it beside the licence plate like mine. We both have the Lariat's.
