I just picked up my 2024 Ranger Raptor today. I test drove a new 2025 but decided to check out this used 2024 because I really wanted the green. Inadvertently, what I ended up doing was a test of the Ford Performance tune. I have always owned high performance vehicles, since I was a teenager and have a pretty dialed-in butt dyno. For context, my current other vehicle is a 2017 Cadillac ATS-V, with numerous mods, that currently pushes around 600hp and runs mid-10's in the 1/4. Anyway, during the test drive, I noticed that this one felt substantially quicker than the new one. It was so noticeable, that my wife even commented on the difference between this one and the brand new 2025. I asked the salesman if this one had been modified in any way, and he handed me the Ford Performance box with the tuner in it. I drove the two trucks about an hour apart, and I can tell you, that I would highly recommend the tune, it makes a BIG difference across the board!!

I agree! The tune is awesome. Mine was installed a little over a week ago and it has been a blast.

I was at the dunes the day after I got it installed and met up with a guy in a Rubicon 392 (470hp and a 4.5 sec 0-60 stock). Despite those slightly better specs and having 35s, he never gapped me on any of the sketchy runs we did at high speeds and on none of the big bowls we burmed did I have to take a lower line than he did, and we were both doing plenty of tap dancing on the rev limiters. The IFS and live valve shocks (the 392 just has non-live valve Fox shocks) also provided a big advantage in the whoops and higher speed stuff. The only place he seemed to have a big advantage was approach and departure angles on some of the most steep dunes, but I'm not against dragging a hitch and denting a skid plate! ?

That is amazing! Glad to hear the real-world experience meets what one would expect based on the numbers. I know it doesn't always work out that way. Damn, that sounds like a lot of fun! I can't wait to get mine offroad for some fun. I am currently in north Texas for a few months, near DFW, anyone have any recommendations within a few hours' drive of here?

I purchased my R/r last June and last week I purchased the Ford tune. I love the tune, it almost feels like a new truck. In sport mode the truck wants to fly.

I have the tune...and sometimes feel that it does not do that much (probably because I am now used to it...and I drive like an old man). I did the Ranger Raptor Assault last week where you drive the school's RRs (stock but with roll bars...so a little heavier). Afterwards (ie driving tuned vs non tuned back to back), my FP tuned RR felt significantly faster/more aggressive. I guess sometimes you do not know how good you have it until it's taken away .

the R/r assault school was fun. I want to do more modes to improve my Proformance even further but not really sure if anything that is out is worth it.

It's definitely a nice upgrade. The tune is not great though. For me it's very non-linear. It seems to kick on around 4K rpm. It's more like a switch vs just having more boost/power.

but overall it's awesome.

I run 20% e85 and 80% 91 (CA) with the tune at all times, and the tuck has adapted to that. If you want the most out of the tune I'd recommend doing this every time.

I’m also in DFW - I’ve heard good things about Bridgeport but this is my first time owning an Off-Road vehicle; so haven’t gone yet.

If get light aftermarket wheels. The stock are 28.5 lbs and the stock beadlock are 37lbs. You can get some good aftermarket wheels that are 22lbs to 23lbs.

This truck isn’t capable of actually adapting to any amount of E85 in a way that improves performance with the FP tune.

Id recommend you stop doing that immediately.
Or get a custom tune.
