Really, I don't see why they could not have more travel. Even a quarter inch would be something. Definitely get the advantage of more fluid with regards to fading performance--something I've experienced with 2in shocks with the former Wrangler.

What I'm really suspecting that this shock is longer eye-to-eye to some degree to assist with the 2-3in lift claim--a stiffer spring could be the rest it. A while back someone mentioned a threaded adjuster for preload, but I haven't seen that detail in any picture.

Previous posted ones are the newly released 3.2 live valve retrofit kits for other vehicles such as tacomas etc.

I also saw a photo of the 3.2 dual live valve shocks for the f150 raptor posted in this thread.

the photo I uploaded was from Sema and is of the specific ranger raptor 3.2 shock

So now, after seeing an actual Fox 3.2 for the RR, and how there is a range of preload adjustment, how does the discussion change for spring perches for the OEM 2.5? What do all the critics have to say now?

Looks like there is enough threading to produce a spring coil binding just backing off the driveway. Just saying, so please don't read into that.

The difference is the bypass ports have been moved to suit the 2-3" lift. Where the factory port locations are design for factory height.

There's plenty to consider with that since the 3.2 Fox is the same length as the 2.5. Sounds like the upper and lower bypass ports could be closer to each other in the 2.5 versus the 3.2. I'd like to know what the actual dimensions are between these two ports for the 2.5 and 3.2; because, if the dimensions are the same, then the question is why can't the 2.5 use perch collars but the 3.2 can use a threaded preload adjuster.

Because if Fox added travel then you'd see people start tearing up their fenders and such. That is what was told to me by Fox.

Fox also told me they don't recommend changing the preload on the 3.2's to obtain more lift. Regarding these vs. the factory 2.5's with a collar im sure the internals on these new shocks are different to allow for some preload adjstment without severely changing the ride.

Ok tracking, thanks. Now, I don't see the point of the threaded adjuster. Looks like a little less cost if that feature is eliminated.

Edit: I still need to remind myself the value of a threaded adjuster with respect to restoring ride height if needed. So yeah, there is a use case.

But of course with your strut spacers that took care of that problem anyways 😉

So the threaded adjuster would compensate for a load heavy enough to sag the suspension?
This would be a selling feature for me since I have skids, winch with bumper DB tonneau cover and about 500lbs of gear when I am off roading. I have been following this thread and the one for the Eibach 1000lb springs and trying to decide which way to go.

My stock RR has sagged 1/4in all around since I brought it home and now at 2,600 miles. I wish the 2.5's had a threaded adjusters as I would have already added some preload--something I've done with my motorcycles for decades.

Compensating for accessory add-ons is one thing, and we can guess the impact of suspension readings are showing with four people and gear loaded.

I just noticed the top of the coil over thats in the bottom of the picture also says its 3.2 for the ranger raptor, but looks like it might be a little different. have a picture of that one? or is it the front and rear coil overs?

I had no idea there were so many professional rally drivers on this forum. Apparently, a lot of people are out here driving these trucks exactly as they were “intended” to be driven, sending them off jumps and blasting across the desert at high speed.
For me it’s pretty simple, if I can upgrade my stock shocks, add a 3/1 lift, keep the factory Live Valve functionality, and still comfortably drive around the streets of San Diego on 35s, I’m sold.
I’m not overly concerned with max travel or constantly adjusting spring load. Once a “professional” installs everything along with my new wheel and tire setup, I probably won’t touch it again.

Rally drivers don’t drive trucks.

If you just want to drive around town with 35’s why not just do the goat 3/1 lift and not spend the 8k on new shocks?
