Have done a whole lot of upgrades recently, this week alone on a week off, over 50 hrs into working on the Ranger Raptor. Intercooler pipes, charge pipes, intercooler, FP tune, resonator deletes , new BOV and the list hours on and on. All that and performance has been just Meh. Haven’t really heard the blowoff valve, not seeing much boost, intercooler seemed like it was a waste of time. Today I spent 4 hrs meticulously checking every vacuum hose and pipe. Total of around 40 band clamps, etc. Found 5 band clamps that were questionably tight and one of the band clamps to the air box I must have overlooked because it was completely loose. While I was at it I doubled up on the band clamps at the turbo outlets. Took it for a test drive after and it screams pure power now! Couldn’t be more elated after so much frustration! All I have left on my list of upgrades is an airbox from indiCarbon when it comes in a few weeks and I will definitely be sure that everything is tight!

The only power added you added is the tune unfortunately. The Intercooler only prevents the computer from pulling timing due to heat soak and losing power you already have. All the pipes may help with a little air flow but you really don’t gain anything. The BOV is only for a cool sound.

I’ve seen my exact setup before and after on the dyno both with tune and there was a HP increase after the pipes and intercooler. Very minimal, like a couple HP but still something. I’m more concerned with keeping the power. Tightening my leaking pipes is what gave me all the power that was missing though.

I have 4 years of experience with the 3.0 as I had an Explorer ST that put down 672 whp uncorrected. It depends on how consistent the dyno runs were. Outdoor temperature, humidity, cooling time between runs. Example: if the vehicle was heat soaked on one pull, then cooled some before the next run, there could be some visible gains. This is very likely what you saw because of the time it took someone to install the Intercooler and pipes. Plenty of time to cool down

Dang, with all those other upgrades you could run a way more aggressive tune if you wanted to actually get more power with the other upgrades you installed... but either way, it is always good to have the engine breath easier. as for the lose pipes, that is crazy... loosing boost is no good... gotta keep that extra pressure up all the way to the intake for sure. Now i'm gonna have to go check all of my connections... it is running great, but cant hurt to check.

Somebody needs to come up with a turbo leak check device that works like a refrigerant leak detector die, if you see colors staining your pipes, air is leaking out. Twin turbo V6 engines have way WAY too many clamps…… I love my RR, but much prefer my wife’s RDX 2.0 four banger for long term maintenance. When car shopping, I always consider where they mounted the turbo, how hard is it to access, and how many feet of piping is there?

John...you should be able to use a smoke machine (like this one HERE) to detect leaks. I've used one to find vacuum leaks and evaporative canister leaks.

LOL, I am very ashamed to admit I never knew there were consumer grade testers like that, thanks. I am surprised that a 1 psi smoke stream would be effective, unless the leak was a very large one…? I don’t see how it could work well on a high volume system like a complete intake or exhaust, that is not close ended - do you plug the far end completely?.

I kill moles in my yard using gasser smoke bombs - I set one in a visible opening and blow the smoke through the burrow using a leaf blower, then stomp closed all the mini volcanoes. I guess that technique is similar in theory, to doing an engine leak test….
