I get what you guys are saying and there is definitely truth behind it.

But at the end of the line, I still pay a very premium price (see the other comment) for, imo, shit pads. It would be a whole other story if they would just wear down instead of break down. Also the BS story from Ford about muddy water causing this, seriously?

I agree with BS call on muddy water. That's not the cause. Best advice I can give you is the above. It's a 5,300lb off-road truck and the factory breaks are just not set up for high-speed runs and brake zones as that's not really what these trucks would encounter in off-road conditions.

I'd make the argument that in off-road, you probably brake very little as the drive train losses and just sheer rolling resistance of sand / dirt / mud is so high the brakes are not used much.

Seriously consider brake upgrade though if you want to do some of those high speed runs on the road. I love the torque on this truck with the engine / trans combination, it's just always on tap and when in 4x4, the grip is crazy, like a cat stuck on a couch....er a raptor stuck on your back as it eats you alive (go Jurassic Park)!
