Front Collision Avoidance system conflicts with front license plate.

I was wondering why the dealer put the temporary license for the front of my new Ranger XLT in my glovebox. It turns out that after putting my new DMV issued plate on, I got a warning light that the front collision system is blocked. CA law states that I need to have a plate on the front but I have been seeing many cars/trucks today with that “black box” and no front plate. Has anybody come up with a good mount/bracket for the front of a Ranger? Currently driving with no front plate now. 🫤

I went with one that bolts to one of the tow hooks. No issues with sensors on mine yet. Have had it for a few months and just hot back from a 3000+ mile road trip through the mountains with no issues.

I live in Oregon which also requires a plate up front, mine is on the garage shelf because I don’t want to drill holes in the front and beside that it looks better without it. I figured I’d just take the ticket if I ever get called out for it

Illinois is dual plate as well. The license plate holder for the Raptor is no drill and doesn't interfere with the sensors. Do not know how the XL/XLT/Lariat version works.

It does look a lot better without though.

My 2025 RR Front plate holder is factory. Clips in place and has 2 factory predrilled screw holes that are reached from bottom. No interference with any sensors.

Virginia dual plate as well. I never did the front plate on the 4Runner. Evidently, the unspoken word is, that the police won't nail you for not having both plates but if they nail you for something else they'll throw that in. So far my XLT is a front plate virgin.

I live in California, just got a 25 Lariat with the front plate mounted by the Ford dealer, no problem.

NJ is a two plate state also, but i have my front plate in a rubber holder and is wedged between the dashboard and windshield. Driven by 100s of cops with no problem.. I've heard Cali cops are questionable when it comes to vehicles so not sure if it's good for you

This is what the dealer installed for me. I suppose if it hangs down farther it could be an issue.

I thought the dealers were required to install it in California? If it doesn't work I would complain.

I don't think the front tow hook mount would work on the 2025 non raptor because of where the sensor is.
