Anyone found a locking plug for the 2025 Ranger? The one sold by Ford doesn't fit Rangers.

I've seen a few questions around this. Do you really have issues with ppl stealing fuel!? The thought of having to unlock and lock a cap evwry time I fill up sounds horrible. I'm 45 and live near Houston and I've lived near DC in the past and I've never heard of anyone having gas stolen. I'm not judging, just genuinely curious.

I don't have any worries at all when home, but we do plan to use this truck for traveling including overnight parking in hotel lots which is where I would use a locking plug not only to discourage theft, but to discourage intentional contamination.

Not here but several people on the Sprinter forum have had fuel stolen in the PNW while parked on the street overnight. Unfortunately some had their plastic tank drilled so it's a crap shoot whether or not a lock is a good idea or not. I haven't peeked under my truck yet to see how accessible the fuel tank or filler hose is.

With the amount of gas that could be stolen I don't even think about a locking cap. For one the hose would have to be the correct size or the flap won't open. for two, I watched a documentary on gas stealers and their comment on locking caps was if there is a lock we just punch a hole in the tank and get it that way. I'd rather not have to pay for fixing my tank because I thought I was thwarting gas thieves. Imagine what that would cost?

I was at a dealer for another issue and inquired about a locking gas plug. The gal in parts tried to sell me one but I was hesitant because I’d not seen any discussion about it here. Glad I didn’t buy it because it would not have fit.

My concern is not gas theft, although I travel and overnight at hotels a lot. My concern is vandalism/tampering. When I was in high school some a-hole peers in my neighborhood went around one night putting sand in the fuel tanks of neighbors they disliked. It caused people hundreds of dollars in damage and repairs. That sad case has always stuck in my mind because a-holes are everywhere. Especially today. I’ve had a locking fuel filler cap or door on every vehicle I’ve owned, up till now.

If someone makes a plug for the ā€˜25 Raptor, I’ll buy it.
