I was looking for a 25 Ranger Lariat a year ago and wanted the standard suspension. Not finding much in stock I test drove a FX4. After 3 blocks on a rough city street, I decided the stiff ride was not for me. I did find a Lariat without the FX$ and bought it.

Having said the above, the standard suspension still rides rougher than the GMC runner up trucks I was looking at and rougher than the 2021 Honda Ridgeline I was coming out of. The Ranger is better for me that the other two but ride quality is not one of the features for me. I do not off roading.
My GF has a 2022 Ridgeline and it's the smoothest riding mid size truck I've ever been in.

Thanks, Winn, we were in the same position, wanted a Lariat with the standard suspension but only FX4 versions were available.

I just took delivery of my special order 26 Ranger XLT last week (ordered because all the ones with adv. towing had FX4 and I didn't want FX4) because while I will tow a trailer I won't be doing any real offroading. I think the ride behaves as my other old Ford products with solid rear axles did, except much smoother just because of advances over the year - a bit harsh navigating potholes and bad roads but on good roads it rides as well as a long-wheelbase sedan. my tires showed up (from driver, clockwise) at 37, 43, 42, 42 so I added a pound to the driver and evened out the others at 38.

So far really happy with the truck overall but only a few hundred miles so far.
