Any quality synthetic oil that meets spec should be fine. A TGDI engine is kind of tough on oil. Here is what's going in my 2.7L changed at every 5k miles, or less. I'll also be doing occasional UOAs to keep track of how it's doing.

Mobil 1 is an excellent oil. However, I started using (at 1st oil change at 1,000 miles) Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.

Nothing wrong with that. I've used it in the past with great results. Only real issue is the Pennzoil Ultra is hard to find around here. Walmart usually keeps a good variety of M1 in stock.

If your other engines had twin-turbos and belt-in-oil, then ok, that's a fair comparison (still not really, but I'm being polite). Otherwise I suggest you read up on the ford-defined spec oils and why it's actually important. Or you could just wait until that belt prematurely dies and turn to social media to complain about oil-submersed belts; heaven knows plenty of folks already complain about that belt without reason.

The SAE ratings for motor oils include materials testing, the wet belt in these engines have to be made of materials that are included in SAE testing and are compatible with all SAE rated oils. None of the rated motor oils will cause the wet belt to wear out faster than motorcraft oil.
