I don't feel comfortable going into some of the rocky terrain around here with an SL tire. I can get the Cooper Discoverer ATP II in XL. There are a number of C1 tires available but they start to get heavy, like 50+ lbs.

Fair enough, I'm not sure there's a direct correlation with load limits and rock resistance, but not my use case so I've not investigated closely.

It's in the sidewall construction, the sidewall of SL tires is weaker and thinner for ride comfort but doesn't hold up well to contact offroad. They may also suffer more flexing damage from airing down but I don't know that for sure.

The front runner right now is the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent. I'm going to upsize to a 32-inch tire, LT255/75R17. Keeping the same width, so pizza cutter'ish. They weigh 42 lbs and have 15/32 tread. The OEM tires weigh 31 lbs with 11/32 tread.. I don't need an off-road AT tire for the amount of wheeling I do. Mainly forest service roads and old mining trails that are very rocky. We plan to get a small travel trailer so that is also factoring into the decision. I have 7 choices right now in that 32-inch size with C load range. The KO3 and Toyo tires are more aggressive than I need. The others are heavier than the Bridgestone except for the Goodyear Destination X/T. The Dueler has better ratings than the Destination plus I really like an outlined white letter tire.

Another vouch for the Ascents. I pulled this diesel sprinter van out and up this deceptively steep ice sheet road. I slipped and fell a couple of times getting all the rigging done.

Thanks, I'm glad I asked, I hadn't searched a 255/75, There are a ton of C1 options in that size and I like staying with the same width. I searched a 245/75 and no C1 at all, just XL and E. The weight of around 42 lbs I can live with. At only 32" they should fit a truck with stock suspension.

Really good reviews and I've realized I have so many more options than Toyo since its the only AT tire I've known. Bookmarked. Tireracks reviews on them were really good too.

I have over 53k miles (85k km) on my stock Wranger ATs on a 2024 Lariat. I drive a lot (obviously) but mostly highway. I have more than enough tread to get through this Michigan Upper Peninsula winter but will be looking for new tires in the spring. I have actually been amazed how well they are wearing. The ride/traction may not not be best but are good enough for what I do now.
