aftermarket. when you push the button, what does it do? any lights come on somewhere?

Not a factory item. Looks like someone, either the dealer or previous owner added something, possibly a tracking module like lo-jack or similar.

My 25 XLT high has the same thing. I’m not sure what it is for either. I know that dealerships install a security system on the vehicles on the lot, in case someone tries to steal a vehicle. I’m wondering if it has something to do with that?

Appears to be a Karr Security System installed by the dealer.
You can have the dealer deactivate if you want.
It's an add on.
