This really pisses me off. First I started last week with a high pitch whistle from my front end, seems possible wheel bearing, hub or front axle, to be determined. This morning, I get this exact same start up noise, less than 900 miles on it. I am not sure what you had to do to get a refund, but I am on my way to trying it. Taking the truck in next week. unreal.
I’m in Australia, it may be different for you? Assuming you’re in the US or UK if talking miles?

I went through my dealer and said I wasn’t satisfied that such a high performance vehicle was having the engine removed and such an invasive repair happening at such an early stage.

I also got in touch with Ford Australia Head Office and relayed my concern. Not sure if that made a difference, but I felt things moved quickly after that connection.

since my car going back, I have heard of two others locally having the same issue.

All the best mate.

Quick question, what does your oil temp gauge report on your RR? I have the dreaded cam phaser on start up, but just noticed this as well... seems low, lower than the first hash mark, so maybe my issue is not cam phaser but oil pump related? Not enough pressure?

Yeah mine was the same as that. The pressure was super low then raises when you put your foot on the gas.

There is a solenoid that controls oil pressure. It can vary depending on many things.

Well that noise was 100% a bad cam phaser... I had that on my gen 2 raptor, i know the sound well. Sucks that this is still happening.

Has anyone come across their new gen Ranger Raptor making a terrible noise on first start up of the day?

It almost sounds like my old diesel without enough oil in it.

It is going into ford next week for a diagnosis, but it would be good to know if this has happened elsewhere and what the outcome was.

Thank you

Thanks for sharing us this kind of research; I’m facing same problem with my 2024 ranger raptor 3.0 V6 Ecoboost. It took the dealer 4 days to find the origin of this failure since the scanner didn’t show any failure code and I told them since the beginning that the VCT phasers needed to be replaced due the defective design and it took me only 15 minutes find out the problem thanks this kind of content you can find in YouTube; do think that the high gasoline consumption it has could be related to this issue? It gives no more than 4.5km/lt when my V8 2019 mustang reaches about 6km/lt?

Really upsetting to hear about such a catastrophic failure this early on…

Would love to see some stats around this, maybe we can start a poll, to see what % of members here have had the issue, at what mileage, and what build date…

If this engine needs to come out in the first year, I’d be livid…especially since I just came from a Toyota I owned for 6 years without a single issue…fingers crossed this is an isolated problem.

Unfortunately the issue with forums is you only hear about the issues. So it sounds like everyone’s having the problem when you read about it. Was the same way with my mustang. I would have thought everyone’s engines were blowing up. Hopefully it’s a minor number of Rangers. No way to know really without a statistic.
