I agree that it would be really interesting to see the parameters for shutter opening and closing. I was stunned to see them closed in park when ACTs were at 130F.

I hypothesize that they are closed anytime you aren't on the throttle judging by how quickly the ACTs come up going down hills or basically any time spent off throttle.

In lieu of a datalog showing shutter position if someone had two go pros and was talented in video editing I would love to see a video of the dash and a video of the shutters from outside the truck synchronized. I don't have the time or equipment for that. I still might try to hook up my big FCAR scanner tomorrow to see if I can find shutter position anywhere in the data.

One thing to note, from what I have gleaned from some of the F150 Raptor forums. Supposedly the shutter system was implemented after some vehicles were ingesting water and misfiring as a result of condensation in the intercooler and not just for mpg and emission purposes. I don't know if there is any truth to that but that is the reason I want to be able to reinstall the shutters in the winter.
Any update to this? did you remove the shutters?

Guys, the shutters are there for economy, not performance. Take that sit out. Also, the stock IC is utter garbage. It feels like a cheap chinese toy with plastic end tanks. A proper (my preference is bar and plate which most are) intercooler will ALWAYS be beneficial. The stock IC starts to heat soak after one pull.

I didn't end up removing them. I chickened out when I started thinking about winter and the potential condensation problems. We get more winter than summer where I live and I almost never get stuck in traffic.

I still haven't seen more than 130 ACT on the hottest days and that is when sitting at a light or if I leave the truck running for a minute while I run into the store and my dog or kid is in it. The ACTs drop remarkably fast as soon as you get into boost.

It seems like lots of folks have removed the shutters so maybe one of them cares to chime in.

I did order a goose tune this morning so if I happen to see higher ACTs with that I may again consider removing the shutters.
