Looking at Fitcamx for it's clean install/look, who is using it? Does it work on US market XLTs with rain sensing wipers?

whoops, looks like I do not have rain sensing wipers? No options in the touch screen other than "Courtesy Wipe".

I have an XLT also with no rain sensing wipers. Dongar makes a dongle that you can use to power the fitcam off of your auto dimming mirror. Im not using the Fitcam currently as my wife bought me another dash cam (happy wife happy life) but I have used it in the past on other vehicles Ive owned. they work flawlessly and look OEM installed. If I didn't have the one the wife bought me it would be my go to dash cam.

This is really interesting and nice looking. I have a 24 NA RR and it doesn’t appear they have one for that year and model yet unless I’m missing something.

I sent an email to them and they are requesting the part number off my mirror surround and pics of all my connectors. I just finished pulling the surround and sending them pics. Will post info as I receive it.

I knew about the dongle which could solve the power issue but the other issue is fitment in the NA Ranger, working on a solution for that now. The Fitcamx seems to be a great option as it won't be so visible to thieves when parked somewhere.

They just replied that they will have a camera that fits my surround at the end of this month, however they also said their camera cannot be powered by USB, only by the rain sensor connector, the fuse box or the OBD. I am betting that there is a way to do it for someone who knows this stuff. They are probably saying no USB because the camera needs a full 12V which not all USBs can supply? But there has to be 12 volts available in the mirror area. You would think they would be interested in making a connector that fits where the Dongar one fits.

Correct me if I'm wrong but all a person would need to do is cut the USB end off the Dongar, find the 2 12V wires out of the Dongar and attach to the FitcamX? Would even make for an easier install not having to cram the USB device into the surround.

Is it possible there is not enough current on the dimming circuit for the Fitcamx?

I sent another email with questions for their engineers 🤷‍♂️

If I have to run wire to the fuse box is it easy enough to do without having iit visible?

Looks like they are actively working on a solution for the trucks without rain sensors. I asked them why the camera could not be powered by the 5 pin connector and they got with their technicians and set up a 5 pin connector which they say will work. They emailed me back and asked if all of the trim levels have the 5 pin connector. I told them all but the XL comes with the auto dimming mirror and I wasn't sure if the XL trim without the dimming mirror still has the 5 pin connector and that I would ask here on the forum if anyone knows.

So if you can answer that please let me know.

They are planning to have a Fitcamx to fit NA Rangers by the end of this month.

So can anyone verify if all 6th gen Rangers have the 5 pin connector? Fitcamx is waiting on this info so they can proceed with a camera kit to fit our 6th gen trucks.

UPDATE: I received my camera last week and have been working on it, today I finally finished it and it's up and running. One of the issues is the connector, it's a Molex with 3 indexing keys but the Ford one has the middle key offset to one side and the connector Fitcamx provides has the center key exactly centered. Using a Dremel to grind off the center key on both connectors solves the problem. I told Fitcamx about this and not sure if they plan to change their connector or just have the customer modify it.

The second issue is the trim piece, I could not get the small trim piece to engage into the large one. I finally realized that when you install the large piece, it closes the gap slightly and the small piece won't fit, plus the rear part of the small piece hits the headliner and doesn't allow you to get a good push on it to snap it in. The solution is to install the large trim and only snap it in at the clips closest to the windshield, then install the small piece, then snap the rest of the large piece in place.

I am pleased with the factory look and the video is good. One tip when connecting to the camera, turn off your BT if using Android Auto. Otherwise AA will keep reconnecting itself which disconnects the camera's WIFI connection. In some cases you may also need to switch off your cellular network if your phone keeps switching back to the network.

Note that at least on on Android, if you have given AA permission to automatically switch on your phone's BT, you have to cancel BT twice as AA will automatically switch it back on after the first cancel. Not sure about ios/Carplay.
