Last I heard from Ford is that WE already have a "Ranger based SUV", its called the Ford Bronco, which oddly isn't available outside of the North American market. Outside of the NA market, they have the Everest, but not the Explorer or the Bronco. I seriously doubt that Ford is going to implement the Everest in the North American market where it would adversely compete directly with the Bronco, the Bronco Sport, and Ford's North American cash cow, the Exploder. Honestly, wouldn't make any kind of business sense at all.

Well, the Bronco is cool and all, and I owned one prior to my RR.

It's pretty crude, and very noisy inside, I could care less if the roof came off, never even crossed my mind to take my roof off the entire time I owned it.
I loved the size and looks of it, however I hated how crude it was finished on the inside.

Which led me into my Land Rover Defender v8, which solved that crude problem got me the V8 I loved but brought a few problems of its own.

Which ironically is how I ended up trading that Defender for another Ranger Raptor that I am making into a SUV of sorts by adding a topper and bed rug to the bed of it.

I liked my 24 Ranger Raptor so much, and just wanted a SUV version of it to solve my needs for an SUV. Which in that I am making the effort to make essentially a Ranger based SUV.

I could see the Everest doing really well here in the US.

Ford quit making cars, they might as well go all in, on an effort to offer all sorts of SUV solutions.
Including a mid-size body on frame like the Everest.

Well, Ford also quit making mid-sized trucks because "no one wants one", then they realized that no one else quit so they had nothing to compete with in the popular mid-sized truck market. Then they discontinued cars because once again "no one wants one," except now Toyota, Hyundai and Kia have shown that to be an error in judgement as well. So now Ford has nothing to compete in that increasingly popular sedan market. The Explorer is, and has been, Ford North America's cash cow so I doubt they'll do anything to jeopardize that; after all, the Explorer outsold both the Ranger and Ranger-based Bronco COMBINED in 2023 & 2024 sales reports, and looks to be doing the same with 2025 sales as well. To sell the Everest, Ford would either have to import them (tariffs), or retool the Wayne plant to produce not only Rangers and Broncos, but the Everest as well, which would further impact the number of Rangers and Broncos being produced. Not enough return on investment there to be economically feasible.

Well I think it all comes down to rather they want a piece of the very successful body on frame SUV market (essentially the 4Runner market now days) or not.

I don't think too many 4 Runner buyers are cross shopping it with the Unibody SUVs like the Explorer.

I am sure there is some truth to Ford not wanting to cannibalize other models, but there is also the thought that a Ford sale is a Ford sale.
That if they don't make what the consumer wants, the consumer will go buy it someplace else.
Lately that seems to be Toyota where this type of vehicle is concerned.

I'll paste my reply from the other Everest thread:
https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/thre...if-they-released-the-everest-in-the-us.12265/

If Everest was offered stateside (esp. in something like a WildTrak trim with a HOSS setup) I would sell my Explorer the very next day.

I don't buy the argument that it would cannibalize sales from other Ford models; Ford doesn't offer anything like a 4Runner - they are essentially not even playing in that market.

Bronco = Jeep (minus SFA obviously) = Body on frame off-road focused w/ removable roof
Explorer = Highlander / Pilot = road cruiser
Everest = 4Runner = somewhere in the middle, but body on frame means you can turn it into a relatively capable off-roader without pissing off your wife (also, sits taller than an explorer, which soccer moms like)

It's not just about what YOU would buy; it's about what your WIFE or GIRLFRIEND will accept. Many would accept an Everest...fewer would accept a Bronco. My RR is pretty friggin loud in the cabin with a roof rack; it was pretty bad before I started modding the truck anyway. I couldn't sell a Bronco to my wife as a second vehicle, because at least one vehicle needs to be a decent, quiet, highway cruiser. An Everest would fit the bill there.

As an addendum: Bronco is clearly designed to prey on Boomer and GenX nostalgia, and it highlights antiquated Ford leadership decision-making. I would wager most people under 40 would prefer the Everest appearance, if polled. The "slice of the pie" they are appealing to w/ the Bronco will only shrink from here on out.

Ford makes decisions all the time that don't make good business sense. Look at the Lightning, huge money loser and they knew that going in. Toyota went opposite direction on EVs. Plus Toyota stayed with body on frame with the 4Runner. The cost to tool up for the Everest is low because it is just a Ranger with a covered bed. Same assembly line could produce all three, production capacity is there.
If Ford doesn't want to make vehicles people want Toyota will gladly do it. Even Nissan is getting in the game bringing back the body on frame Xterra.

I think highly unlikely as from what I understand, currently the Everest is only built out of the Thailand Factory. For it to make sense for Ford to sell it in the NA market, they would need to build them out of the US factory to avoid import tariffs and shipping costs. Not sure if it would be worth it for Ford to acquire all the extra tooling needed to make the Everest. The Everest is a fantastic SUV though, so it's a shame the NA market misses out on it
Your logic just makes no sense here especially on this site, as the ranger Raptor was developed First in Thailand and then later released to North America after all the bugs were worked out. This is been a typical rollout of several Ford vehicles over the past years, and will continue to be the way they do it. It is no big deal to move the tooling and some of the parts manufacturing to the US especially after all the details and parts suppliers have been set in place. For example the Bronco is available in China now as well and the fact that that Everest in the picture is Left Hand Drive is an obvious indication of which direction they're going to market the truck next

Sounds like Nissan is bringing the Exterra back .
That sounds like the 4 runner won’t be a lone wolf for long.
‘Maybe there is hope for the Everest as the mid size body on frame segment starts heating back up.

Exterra talk is around the 34 min mark in today’s TFL now SEMA video.

I am sure these are likely a AI generated renderings.
