Just saw this article popup in my news feeds.

I have been thinking about this Ranger based SUV ever since I saw some videos on them from the Australian market.
I am thinking with the massive popularity of one of the only remaining body on frame smaller SUVs being namely the uber successful Toyota 4Runner.
Seem there would be at least one US company that would want claw back a piece of that body on frame mid size SUV market.

Seems this test mule was spotted testing in Colorado.

Ford’s Ranger SUV Spotted Testing In America Has Everyone Asking The Same Question

I think it is a very sharp looking SUV. I can't imagine that not being a hit for Ford here in the US market.

I feel like it might cannibalize sales for the Explorer so personally I doubt it.

Size comparison: https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/ford-explorer-2019-suv-vs-ford-everest-2022-suv/

I would love it, we're in the market for a mid size or mid size+ SUV and trying to figure out what we want. Love the 4Runner but like the Taco, the 4 cyl engine kills it for me. The Sequoia is ok but just meh compared to the GX550 Overtrail+, which we're leaning towards and are on a waiting list for. An Everest Raptor would be a dream come true for me.

I just don't see it happening as much as I want one. Then again, I said the same about the Ranger Raptor years ago and now I'm driving one, so...

fingers crossed? 🤞🤞

Yea, the explorer is likely a roadblock in Fords eyes, but I am thinking if Toyota can offer both types of SUVs here in the US market and both are successful for Toyota.

Both meaning a unibody car based SUV like the Explorer and a Body on frame Suv like Everest.

I traded off my Land Rover Defender last month for another Ranger Raptor that I am currently in the process of making into more or less an SUV, I am adding a bed rug and fiberglass topper to create essential something sort of like this.

I think it's unlikely, but definitely be really cool if it did come to North America. Interestingly it appears to be a left hand drive model in the OP's picture. Which definitely leads to speculation 🤔

I think highly unlikely as from what I understand, currently the Everest is only built out of the Thailand Factory. For it to make sense for Ford to sell it in the NA market, they would need to build them out of the US factory to avoid import tariffs and shipping costs. Not sure if it would be worth it for Ford to acquire all the extra tooling needed to make the Everest. The Everest is a fantastic SUV though, so it's a shame the NA market misses out on it

They’d have to bring production to the US. But it’s based on the Ranger/Bronco platform, so theoretically at least it shouldn’t be too difficult. But still unlikely we’ll ever see it. Here’s hoping though because it would absolutely give the 4Runner a run for it’s money.

That’s what I was thinking , especially since Toyota went all in on turbo 4 bangers.
A 2.7 or 3.0 EB v6 would really make it outshine the latest 4 Runner.

2.7 would seem like a no brainer. Maybe a Raptor variant down the line. Considering what Toyota has done to their lineup, Ford could eat their lunch with this.

Agree 100%. I was very interested in the new 4 runner till I saw the towing specs. If Ford had 7,000 lbs or more of towing in a mid size SUV with similar GCVR I’d trade my Ranger for the Everest 4-5 years out

Earlier this year at the Houston auto show I spoke to a Ford representative at the Ford booth. He told me that the Everest would be coming to the US by late 2027 early 2028. Now should we believe this guy. Not sure but it would be awesome but I don’t think ford would bring a vehicle that could outsell the explorer. Hopefully Ford makes that move.

That would be a huge hit if they replaced it. I loved my old body on frame Explorer but did not like the new unibody version at all. We bought a 4Runner instead. Maybe the Raptor version could have a Coyote in it!
