The velocity blue on this Ranger is absolutely beautiful. Course it was sunny out today so it made for the perfect pickup day. The only other truck I've owned was a 98 S10 pickup back when I was 16. I'm 36 now and just came from a 22 Camaro LT1 V8 manual so quite the night and day difference here. I only drove it 30 miles home but first impressions are very good.

Engine has plenty of pickup and if you go to give it some throttle to downshift from 10 or 9 down to 8 you can hear that turbo whistle with the radio off. Brakes have great feel due to the electronic brake booster. Never drive a 24 model so I don't know what those feel like just like the older 2.3. All I can say is this 25 model drives super smooth and so far the gears are seamless. Going to spend most of tomorrow using strip wash shampoo and clay barring it then prep spray to get it ready for ceramic coating. Here's a pic with the truck and my kiddos

Welcome!!

I had a 98 sonoma stepside with the 2.2 and 5 speed. Bought it for 500 bucks and used that truck to haul so much contruction stuff. It was a great truck because it had the zq8 package so it came with the lowering springs, huge sway bars, and the wide camaro rims on it from the factory

Very nice looking truck and family! I hope that you do not experience the problems that I have with my (now 40 day old) Ranger 2.3 XLT. At 815 miles I got 2 warnings and had to bring it in to my dealer last Tuesday. I got “Turbo wastegate stuck closed” and a “Powertrain malfunction” warnings.
The dealer told me that “some clips on the wastegate were missing from the factory”.
I was hoping to get it back before the holiday weekend, but when I called on Friday I was told that “the parts were held back due to quality concerns. We have re-ordered the parts and we should know more on Tuesday.”
😟

BTW - the dealer gave me a new 2024 Ranger XL as a loaner. The 2025 engine runs much better! It is much stronger and it sounds much deeper than the 2023 2.3. The brakes on the 2025 also grab much stronger and faster, although the 2024 brakes have a more linear and progressive feel, which I like.

She’s a beaut! Congratulations. I’m glad that I too spent time stripping the crappy wax or whatever the dealer sprayed on, then used iron remover, buffed, clay barred, and finally ceramic coated it. It was hard to not drive it for those days but it was an investment in the durability of the paint I was happy to make.
