I’m sure this is a dumb question, but you do have the tech package in your xlt, right? If you have adaptive cruise I’m guessing you have the tech package but I’m not as familiar with the xlt options

Those only are functional when you have turned cruise control on. One is for setting the gap between you and the next vehicle. And the other turns on and off Lane assist. Whenever I turn the cruise control on I immediately turn lane assist off because it is so annoying.
Excellent. Then that means my system is indeed working correctly if the two buttons only work/active once you hit the CC button. Thanks

No, as I posted above, with pictures, that one button serves two functions in my truck depending on whether adaptive cruise is active or not: when adaptive cruise is NOT active the button toggles lane-keep assist on or off, and while adaptive cruise IS active it toggles lane-centering assist on or off.

Unless I missed something above about the use of these 2 buttons... yes, my understanding is they are only set to function when the cruise control is activated. When the driver is solely in charge of the vehicle, they are non-functional (at least this is how it works in my '24 RR). And the adaptive cruise gap, also sometimes called pre-collision, are on in the same.
Perfect. I think the overall consensus is that my system is working as designed. Contrary to the user manual and any other Ford I've owned. Lol. But at least that's one concern down lol.

I've come to realize with much research that some trims and options work differently. In my 2025 XLT 301a with tech and tow package you seen to have to turn on cruise control to use the other two buttons. Those without that package actual only have two not four buttons on the upper left steering wheel pad. They can indeed turn the two on and off as needed. Best I can tell.

On our 2024 Ranger Raptor you can turn the lane keeping on or off, regardless of whether you are using cruise control.

I believe anyone can turn the lane centering on or off any time, via the button available... I think the original post was about whether the lane centering would actually function with the cruise control not turned on. And unless you've used FORScan to alter the factory settings, in a 2024 RR the lane centering does not work (to my knowledge) without the cruise control being engaged.

So you're saying you must hit the cruise button to then and only then will the lane assist and precollision work?

Yes, that's what I am saying... at least on my 2024 RR (without these 2 items being altered using FORScan). I tried it a couple hours ago, just to make sure... and without cruise control turned on, my lane centering and collision avoidance did not function, even though both of these items were indeed set in the "on" position.
And I would think this to be set like this by Ford, so as to have the vehicle function without any assistance (driver input only) and not rely on any of these features in normal driving mode.
danmoochie... If you're following, is your Raptor somehow different than this?

Ok that's how mine works. What's confusing is the guys who keep saying then can hit the lane assist button on it's own and it lights up on the dash display and they get the aid and steering wheel shake. I can hit that button but nothing happens unless I activate cruise first. And even then I don't get the wheel shake I get the wheel for ubf me into the lane. Just all different from my prior experience with these items but I did not have the automated cruise.

Okay, let's make sure everyone is on the same page. These trucks have both "lane keeping" and "lane centering." Lane keeping works with or without cruise control. It can provide alert warnings (vibrations) and steering assistance (aid) to help guide the vehicle back into the lane. You can decide if you want one or the other, or both, in the settings. Lane centering only works when cruise control is activated. Lane centering actually continually steers the vehicle to maintain the center of the lane, but it does require you to keep your hand on the wheel. If it doesn't sense any steering input from the driver, it will start throwing up warnings and then deactivate.

Ok well there are four buttons on the photo of the steering wheel. If the top right it precollision then the bottom right is lane centering? Then where is the button people are pressing for lane assist with the aid and vibration?? It can't be the same button? In either case I have everything set up on the center screen but no matter what I can not get the vehicle to do the so called lane assist with vibration. What am I missing??
