The only answer that matters regarding payloads is what’s printed on the sticker in the driver’s door jam. The reason you see such a range posted is because the largest payload number is for the base truck with no options, and every option added adds weight and reduces payload. But for perspective my loaded lariat with the 2.7 has a payload around 1335lbs.
As proof that you're correct, I also have a "loaded" Lariat with 2.7 and FX4. It has a payload of 1374 pounds, which means your particular "loaded" Lariat is about 40 pounds more loaded than mine.

Thanks for the replies, now have the truck and the door sticker reads 1422 lbs payload. Doing all the calculations I should be fine with about 6-700 lbs in the trailer (tongue wt 444 lbs), total payload 1304lbs so about 120 or more under the 1422. Probably will be closer to 300lbs under when done. Still 3k lbs under GCVW of 12745lbs. Plan on giving up the e2 WD hitch and going with an Andersen as well, saves another 40lbs and easier on my back.
Thanks again.
You'll be fine. Your truck will handle that with ease.

I have a 25 Ranger XLT with 2.7 engine. I have just begun to break in the engine...less than 1000 miles. I did an oil change at 800 miles. I was thinking of hauling a quarter cord of seasoned (dry) pinon wood about 500 miles. The estimated weight of a full cord of wood is about 4000 lbs, or 2 tons, I think...quarter cord would be about 1000 lbs. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this? Should I wait until the engine has a few more miles to do this? Or can it handle hauling 1000 lbs 500 miles?

you are good. it will probably actually be good for the truck to move that stuff so the suspension gets cycled more then normal and might soften up the ride a little. mine did after i carried about 50 of those large red pavers home from the hardware store one time. the back was noticeably lower then unloaded while hauling them so i know it was a good amount of weight.

Is the Lariat trim in itself heavier than the XLT trim level?

I have a '24 Lariat with the 2.7 liter. It has the FX4 package and just about every option other than the bed steps and bed liner.

My payload is just under 1400 pounds. If your truck is a 4x4, it will be in that ballpark.

I pull a camper that weighs about 4000 pounds loaded. It's a teardrop design, so there's probably slightly less wind resistance than your trailer.

On flat ground and at speeds of about 65mph (105kph??) I'm getting right at 13mpg. Dropping to 60 mph I can get 14 mpg. In practice, which is flat but with 40% hilly driving at 65mph, I get 12.5 mpg.

Towing with this truck is a breeze. I traded a 2019 Tacoma. The transmission, gearing, engine power, and suspension combine to make the Ranger hugely superior to the Tacoma. It's not really superior overall, but for towing purposes it's like the dark ages vs the age of enlightenment.
curious why you say not overall better? the offroad capability?

i suppose its possible, depending on options

I would guess that an XLT with 4x4 is going to be heavier than a Lariat with 2WD. Similarly, an XLT with the 2.7 liter will likely outweigh a 2.3 equipped Lariat, assuming the rest of the drive train is the same.

I can't see XLT's having enough possible options to outweigh a Lariat with the fewest options.

I think we misanswered his question, now that i am rereading. What is the difference in just the xlt versus lariat packges, not engine and drivetrains.

Xlt comes with cloth manual seats and lariat comes with power leather?

Xlt comes with small entertainment screen and lariat with larger screen?

Power options for each trim? Xlt is a manual sliding rear window and lariat are power sliding?

I would think with the lariat always being power and the xlt being manual, like an xl, the lariat would weigh more because i know 100% power seats weigh tons more than manual seats.

I know you can upgrade xlts to have lariat options but i think a regular xlt is more similar to an xl than a lariat. Like my xl and my FIL's xlt looked identical to me, minus he had a sliding rear window and his has the fx4 package on it
