I'm a big fan of stock tire size for most uses of the RR. When you think about the benefits of a larger tire and HOW MUCH larger you actually need to go to get anything meaningful, you're talking 35x11.5's or 35.12.5's just to get 1 inch of minimum running clearance at the rear axle. You can use a 1" lift up front to add a bit more clearance and approach on stock tires, but only tire size will increase rear axle clearance. Unless it's a dedicated off roader that almost lives entirely as a weekend toy for off-road use, I think stock 33's on the Ranger are the better compromise.
32.8in vs true 35x11.5 is only 6.3% difference in diameter and 1" increase in min clearance.
32.8in vs. 34.4in (315/70R17) is only a 4.7% difference in diameter and 0.8" increase in min clearance.
BTW, that SGM RR on the 709 HD's looks sharp with 285/70R17 Micky Thompsons! Although they do seem to have a narrower tread width like the KO3's. MT lists their tread width as only 9 inches, OE spec KO3's are 8.8 in tread with while the AT4W's and XTM's are 9.6~9.7in tread width. Wider thread is mostly what gives the "big tire" look.
