Thanks to all for good & thoughtful ideas in response to the original post. I'll take a closer look at a few of these "secure pistol storage" suggestions.

However, experience has proven to me (evidenced by a box full of discarded holsters & other junk) that "one size fits all" solutions don't work for all weapons, people, Rangers, situations, for raising kids, or....... (you fill in the blank)!
But, there is much wisdom in seeing how others have approached & solved a similar need. Many thanks!

YUP. I have a drawer full of holsters and belts that were supposed to be "the best carry equipment" for your handgun ever devised.and yet they all sukked.
