Not to be a dumbass or anything, but what exactly is the upper glove box? Is that that space right above the glove box? What are you adding to that to make it useful? I would really appreciate any insight you can give me thank you.

Not a dumbass question at all. The Lariat has 2 glove boxes, an upper and lower. Last week’s hot topic was adding the upper glove box to the XLT’s and presumably the XL’s. Does not look difficult to do and costs about $55.
I asked my friend who is on 10 months of ownership on a Lariat to send me a picture. He did not know it was there. He is a dumbass.

DO NOT keep lithium ion battery devices in your car, especially in your glove box in Summer and ESPECIALLY in Florida, where your box gets toasty! They are a documented fire hazard (thermal runaway) and this is clearly described in most tool owner manuals, including your vac. “Store indoors and away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity”. The only lithium devices that are safe to store inside in hot weather have LiFePO4 chemistry (lithium iron phosphate) like the recent generation of RV batteries. There are very few automotive ones in the market, I have an EcoPower battery brick and also a portable jump starter/ compressor that have Iron Phospate batteries, both are safe to keep in the cab. All my DeWalt tools are not safe to store inside my vehicles. If I do carry them, they go in the bed in hot weather, plus the battery packs are stored and charged inside my air conditioned home.

This applies to a handgun with a rechargeable rail mounted weapon light, that should go under a seat, not in the glovebox, and don’t keep it inside long term. My Security 380 goes in the top box for very short periods, like a doctors appointment, in mild weather only …

If the fire risk isn’t enough, high temperatures drastically shorten the lifespan of the cells. Your powerful little vac will be a complete dud within a year. With a non- replaceable battery, it will have to go into the recycle bin.

It is too bad these “features” are not mentioned in the sales descriptions.

Oh shit, I never thought of that when I put my Noco jumper (which is just one big-ass battery) under the back seat! ?

No tourniquet or first aid stuff because if you have to pull your weapon, its not to hurt someone. They aren't toys to be flashed around to scare people or shoot someone in the leg

This is a great little jump starter and it pumps up tires pretty well too, (topping, not all four from 12 psi). It has a lithium iron phosphate battery and it is the one I bought to keep in my RR, almost 25% off too. These are becoming a little more common as the RV battery technology trickles down to the mainstream aftermarket.

For all you guys running around with guns in the car.
Do you accompany them with anything useful like a flashlight or tourniquet? Basic first aid?

Pretty hard to claim you carry it for self defense when you only carry tools to harm and nothing to help.
I'm sorry , there is no correlation between self defense and "tools to help". Self defense explains itself. If im being attacked by any means while in my truck i have a weapon to defend myself. So yes , it's easy for me and all the others to state , not claim , that it is for self defense. I do also have a flashlight and a first aid kit in the truck. Not that it relates to a weapon for self defense. If your against guns , that's your right , just be careful when criticizing others for having a different view point please.

I’m the opposite of against guns!
In a court of law, it can become difficult to prove that you’re goal was self defense if you only carry a device that pokes holes in people and nothing that can help patch holes in people.

Have any of these “every day carriers” ever done any real world training like what the Sig academy offers?
Ever think that that bullet that poked a hole in the bad guy almost never stops in the bad guy and usually proceeds to strike an innocent bystander?

If there is in fact a bad guy that’s posing a deadly threat then there’s more than likely other bystanders injured already? Your gun isn’t going to do much to help them.

I personally carry a tourniquet and med kit in all of my vehicles year round. (And even more importantly have done extensive training on how to use all of it) Only in certain situations will I carry my pistol with me…

this is where you should be running expanding tip ammo, be it hollow point or those ones the frag out when hitting. full metal jacket will for sure pose the risk of passing through a person and hitting someone else... and you know the rule, you are accountable for the bullet wherever it goes, intentional or accidental. your shot passes through the bad guy and kills a person behind him, or ricochet and kills someone, you are going on the red carpet too

Been lots of discussion about adding the upper glove box recently, I have one on order for my XLT. I was in LOWES today and they had these surprisingly powerful vacuum cleaners on sale from $39 to $19. I bought one and my wife liked it a lot so I am picking up another one tomorrow. Measures 12” long and about 2.75 inches wide at the widest.

I saw a commercial for that and thought about getting one for the truck. How do you like it?

It has really good suction for such a small vacuum. Really good deal if you can find them 50% off like I did at Lowes. Subject to the advisement above about keeping a lithium battery in a hot vehicle.
