Anyone use Ford Dashcam VSL3Z-19G490-C (or -A)

Thinking of either the VSL3Z-19G490-C or VSL3Z-19G490-A dash cam, mainly because it should be plug and play, right? Anyone have experience with these?

Yes and no. Those are Thinkware cameras and Ford provides an OBD plug. You can get the same camera for less money on Amazon and install into fuse panel for same function. I got the exact same Thinkware and it's good, not great. For the money, there are many better options out there. I had some Amazon credit and they were on sale with good reviews, so I pulled the trigger.

I've just ordered the FITCAMX camera. There have been posts in the past that the original model didn't fit correctly in the Gen 6 Ranger, however the company assured me this one would. We'll see when it arrives if it does. If not it will go back.

The Ford dashcam is basically just a generic dashcam you can get off amazon but they brand it ford and upcharge you 25% because it has a logo.

More or less all of highest recommended or best dashcams will be the same "plug and play" installation regardless of what you choose. There are a few existing threads here on how to install via the fuse box in these trucks, but even for inexperienced folks it is pretty simple. Or if you don't want to deal with the fuse box, you can just use the cigarette lighter or USB power source instead, you just lose a couple features doing it this way.
