I am looking into purchasing a 24 xlt 2.3, 2wd ranger. The majority of my driving is suburban. Short trips, probably 90% with occasional light loads, errands. What kind of mpg should i expect. hoping for at least 20 mpg.

You'd honestly be better off with a hybrid maverick unless you plan to tow more than 2000lbs. It's really perfect for suburban driving, with some people averaging 42mpg!

If you don't have a lead feet like I do the 2.3 will give you at least 20. My spirited driving hovers around 20.

I've been averaging 23 or so. I'd estimate miles are 40% suburban, 30% highway, 30% mountain (e.g., up and down big elevation changes). That's in a 4WD XLT but 98% of the time I'm in 2H.

My Lariat 4x2 is approaching 23 mpg after 1k miles. My commute is 24 miles one way, a mixture of Appalachian foothills and city driving.

So far in 500 miles of driving in ONLY city conditions, I am averaging exactly 20.0. mpg. I am curious to see if it improves at all after break-in.

Sounds good, the numbers I'm seeing posted sound spot on, promising. Now get over lump in my throat of prices when I pick one and pay for it.
