In the past week, I started having multiple safety alerts lighting up the dashboard of my ‘25 Lariat, for different safety related systems. At first I did not notice anything different in the vehicle performance and behavior, and all those alerts were gone after I turned off the vehicle for a few minutes. Then it happened again and new, more serious, alerts started to appear as well. That’s when I started having issues with power steering deactivated, and all driver assistance features deactivated as well.

I took my Ranger to the dealership yesterday and it’s been there since then. I have no idea what the issue or issues are, and the service rep doesn’t know anything yet.

Anyone has had something similar happen to their Ranger?

I've heard something similar, and it was a few of possible things.

1. Good news - week battery - easy fix -warrantied

2. Good news -It could be a glitch and need ECU reprogrammed.

3. Semi Bad news - ECU or BCM needs replaced - warrantied - but may have to wait for parts.

3. Bad news - rodents chewed up wire harness - not easy fix - not warrantied -expensive. But I'd expect this one to be a permanent failure, not something intermittent.

1 to 3 are possible, but if it was the battery, I would probably have my truck back by now, so 2 or 3 maybe? Rodents are not a possible reason, due to my Ranger being fairly recent (less than 4K miles) and always sleeping in my garage.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

No problem. Those are just off the top of my head, and in no way was meant to alarm you.
But please report back on findings.

My ‘25 Lariat 2.7 is in for the same issue(s) right now. They found a “U 3000 code in the gateway module” and have to order a new ecm (?). The main thing I noticed was that the software has t updated for 90 days and I couldn’t sync my phone to the truck (CarPlay “works”, as much as it ever does), but I couldn’t lock, unlock, track the truck, etc.

Mine was the battery, but it took them two days to diagnose because of all the codes it set off

Good to know, thanks for sharing. After two days in the shop, I am wondering what’s going on and I’m hoping for a simple battery replacement.

I'm hearing more about the batteries being junk on these Fords.
My son has a 2024 Bronco and has replaced his with aftermarket after doing some research.
He didn't want to get stranded off road due to a known junk battery.

It's not only Ford, my previous vehicle was a Subaru Outback Wilderness. My car had less than 10K on it, and during a trip to Miami, the battery started dying on me. I had to buy a jump starter and use it every time I had to turn off the engine during the 13 hours trip back home.

It seems that batteries are not built strong enough to support the multitude of electronic components in modern cars and trucks.

I got an update from the dealer and it looks more serious than the battery:

"We have not been able to pinpoint anything yet. Whenever the issue goes active, we lose communication with the truck completely. We currently have no ETA on this." :frown:

Finally got the root cause and fix details from the dealership. It’s not anything I was expecting:

“The securing connector tab on the power steering control module is missing, allowing the wiring harness to slightly back out at times, is what was causing all of the issues. The module is only serviced with a new power steering rack. Tech is figuring out all needed parts and getting everything ordered.”

“Parts coming from the Indianapolis warehouse. Likely wont have them until Thursday of next week. Will do what we can to have you out of here by Friday but may go further, really dependent on the delivery.”

Amazing they have to replace the whole rack just for a replacement module. I guess that's the standard these days.
Love the old school trucks you could fix yourself with rubber bands and paperclips.

Drive in a little snowy condition and snow packs in the the front end wjere the sensors are and disables tje precollision.

My front passenger side sensors constantly go off... Why? The dealer mechanic says no error messages.
