We just got home from a two week vacation. We drove my wife's 24 maverick hybrid 2,600+ miles, from Philadelphia to fort lauderdale. The Ford app let me know my Ranger is sleeping and it should restart. Has anyone had a problem restarting there Ranger. I'm going to try to restart this morning.

The “smart” features, which are a significant power drain, turn off after about a week, I personally would have a battery tender plugged in for a long absence, especially for a rig left outside in below freezing weather.

It is much better to keep the battery charged than starting and idling the engine for a few minutes and NOT driving it.

I plug mine in this time of year and it is always garaged…. it is not a daily driver.

I’ve left mine for over a month and it started first go straight away like it was a normal everyday startup. I wouldn’t be worried about it

you can do scheduled starts on the ford app. I would recommend that. it's good to start it and run it for a few minutes a week.

When it goes to sleep it can no longer be remote started with the app. Don't know if the scheduled start would still work however if it were engaged, in theory, it wouldn't go to sleep. Haven't tried it but mine started easily after 10 days of sleep.

Good to know about the app. For me it was two weeks and it started up no problems.

Is it ok to take the battery out for 6 months. Figure i would trickle battery out of truck. I do not live in a house.

Running it for a few minutes a week is worse for the motor than not running it at all. Think of all the moisture being created during that brief runtime. It will accumulate over time turning your oil into an emulsified oil/water milkshake.
You're better off hooking up a maintenance charger and leaving it in that state until you're able to drive it.

Not sure I believe that. My vehicle has almost 200 hours of idle time no oil or motor issues.

True, but the idle time on your vehicle history is mostly, likely, comprised of a few minutes at a stop (sign, light, waiting for your kids at school pickup, whatever…) but almost always surrounded by full engine temps on drives of more than a few miles which evaporates the condensate out of the oil -
it is known to be very bad for engines in hibernation to be idled briefly without full runs at normal operation temp. Winterized motorcycles, summer-ized snow machines sleeping Rangers all suffer from intermittent short idle “warm ups”.
battery tender, and a long winter’s nap are the way to go..

my experience, the auto start on the app, or scheduled starts usually need a key cycle to be active again. I have yet to be successful on a scheduled afternoon start if the morning start happened and I never went anywhere.

Good to know, for me I don't use the auto started app very often. I own a 22 2.0 Maverick and it also went to sleep. My Maverick started up first try no problem. So to sum it up both my Ranger and Maverick went to sleep and they both started first shot.
