Hi all i’ve never owned a truck in 4 hrs i have to decide wether or not i want to get a ranger raptor at msrp. I will be getting rid of a 2023 fully Audi s5 coupe fully loaded. My question, is this stupid to do if i’m not an off-road guy? I would be using it as a daily driver 40 miles round trip to work. I I’m not sure why but i’m extremely intrigued by this vehicle. The audi msrp was 70k today it’s worth 48k at the audi dealer and 43k every where else. I’m leary of how bad the raptor depreciation will be. I did some research and i see the standard f150 is on the list of very bad depreciation. Again i really appreciate some guidance on getting this as just a cool fun daily driver with the occasional trips to the mountains. ty

Consider my background before my advice. I have only owned ford trucks for the past 20 years and have owned my RR for ~7 months and 8k miles.
1) I wouldn’t pressure yourself about the deal you have before you. There are and will be more MSRP RR around in the future if you do research. Got mine at MSRP.
2) f-series trucks are the #1 vehicle sold in the US. Supply is high and so is depreciation but if you look at Raptor products they hold value much better in comparison. See for yourself.
3) Going from a luxury vehicle to the Raptor will come with compromises. I think the test drive experience will show you what those are and if you can live with them.

Personally I LOVE the truck. It is a great daily driver but truly shines when off road. Even if I never took it off the pavement I would enjoy it thoroughly. I was not a big off-road guy before but getting the RR has got me looking around for trails in my area to enjoy this truck at its fullest. With the procal tune it feels like a truck doing a sports car impression. The MPG is bad not terrible compared to other trucks. My biggest gripes are no ventilated seats or AC in the back but not that big of a deal to me.

You will love it, Raptors and F150 are completely different animals in every respect, including depreciation. Gas mileage is not the best hwy you may see 20, all around mine is getting 17.9 with the Ford Performance tune.

Raptors tend to have better depreciation than non Raptor trucks, but buying any new vehicle short of a limited production model will yield similar results. Tacoma TRD Pros aren’t holding their value anymore either.
Do you have to buy from a California dealer or can you shop out of state? Guys are posting up to $2,500 off MSRP here now.

I would not worry about depreciation on the RR as someone else pointed out. The RR is not a limited production vehicle, but not massed produced either. I am one of those guys that got $2555 off MSRP, and a very fair trade value. I traded a 23 Tacoma TRD OR with fairly low miles, so my example might be different than others due to the Tacoma's high resale value. I only have a 100 miles and some change on my truck, but so far loving it. Coming from Toyota's for many yrs now I have to be honest and say I am holding my breath a little about long term reliability with this Ranger. I have a 17 4 runner TRD Pro that I am never selling, so I guess I something to fall back on LoL!

If you want to make a trip to Arkansas I know of two Ranger Raptors for sale at less than MSRP. Also try getting one with a November build date or later they have the upgraded bed that does not need the bed braces of the earlier builds. Both of these are November builds and have the updated stronger beds.

You've never owned a truck in 4 hours? I don't think I have either, but it makes no sense.

Put a period or semicolon after truck and it makes sense. This applies to a couple other sentences, but I think it is understandable overall

I have had mine since May of last year and love it as a daily driver. Gas mileage is abysmal, but I had a FJ Cruiser before with big offroad tires, so I was used to 15mpg on a good day... The RR is a fun truck to drive and it is very fast.

In 2015, I went from a Mercedes E500 to an F-150 Latiat, and I will never go back to sedans or SUVs. The 150 is excellent for long trips, it very comfortable, and if you maintain them, they will run forever. They are far far less expensive to maintain than German Metal.

I am planning on keeping my 150 at an additional property I own, and I am awaiting a ‘25 Ranger Lariat for my daily driving (I want something smaller with the latest tech)

If you are like me, you won’t miss the Audi, and you will love your new truck. As for resale value, I can’t advise you because I keep my trucks always 100% maintained, and they continue to serve
Me well. My 10 year old F-150 runs and looks as if it is brand new.

I want to thank everyone so yesterday i pulled the trigger on the RR at msrp, walking distance from my house. The test drive did it for me i was not expecting it to be so fun and ride and handle so well. I took it at 70 on the freeway to see how obnoxious the road noise was going to be(which i fully expected). It was ridiculously quiet i was shocked. Only put about 30 miles on but definitely i can see why they are in demand
