You just missed the end of the month which is when most dealers go AT msrp. Socal will probably not go under until Dec 30th.

get at least the level 2 tow package, which is the receiver. than you can add the brake controller later on if you wish to because the wiring is still there. the level 1 trucks, which do not have a hitch receiver on them, are considered level 1.

otherwise, i would get as base a truck as possible because i like as little extra junk as possible being on the truck, less issues to worry about down the road.

Why shouldn't he get the Raptor like he wants?

I'm also in So Cal and shopped several RRs in the So Cal area pretty aggressively for approximately 2 weeks in mid-August by calling every dealer within a reasonable distance and letting them know I was serious about making a deal, had my ducks in a row and knew where I needed to be at in terms of price. I initially really pushed for $2k off MSRP and told several dealers I had one of their competitors there already (I didn't) but that I liked their RR more.

Interestingly, every dealer I said that to told me pretty much straight up that they couldn't match it and that if I was serious I should probably jump on it because for them, even MSRP (although possible) would be a wrestling match. I didn't care much about color or options and was really looking to find the best deal. However, after test driving one I knew I didn't want to wait much longer either.

Their main argument seemed to center on resale value of the RR-- that they show used '24 and '25 ones at pretty much MSRP still and that they just couldn't hand me 2K off a brand new one.

So I licked my wounds ultimately bought a Carbonized Gray Metallic '25 RR at MSRP from Upland Ford. The truck was optioned with factory beadlocks and mudflaps; I had it professionally bedlined a few days after driving it home.

Upland Ford was really easy to work with and our entire deal was negotiated via text message which resulted in the salesman texting me photos of a sales sheet on their dealership's letterhead with the complete breakdown (cost of truck, taxes, license fees, doc fee, interest rate/term of the loan etc.) of the deal before I ever set foot in their dealership. No trade-in was involved and I put a healthy amount down to get to a reasonable payment (for me). I also completed a Ford credit pre-approval application before shopping seriously for my RR and thus knew I was well qualified and ready/able to sign for the right deal.

About 6 weeks and 1300 miles later, I could not be happier. Even at MSRP, I feel like I got a great deal mainly because the MSRP on the RR -- at least in my opinion -- is already a great deal considering the driving experience the RR provides and what its competition currently offers/fails to offer.

As others have said, things are likely to get better as the year begins its wind-down to Christmas and New Year's. November/December are great months to car shop historically and although official word isn't out yet (I could be wrong), I don't think there aren't much if any changes expected for the '26 RR. Thus, considering the resale value of the RR, finding a great deal on a '25 toward the end of the year seems like a winning approach.

Good luck in your search for your RR; You will not be disappointed (except when you have to turn it off after you've reached your destination).

I waited 6 years to get the power rear window. Not available on first year (2019).
Did my checking, got the employee plan pricing and while the Raptor interested me, three things did not. 1) gas mileage 2) tires that howled when on the highway and 3) no power rear window.

The lady wants a Ranger Raptor. We have the Raptor disk brake covers, the officially licensed RAPTOR decal on the tailgate and are currently waiting for the Raptor grill insert.
Making a Ranger Raptor without the price and a power rear window.

1) Gas milage is not great, but not bad for driving such a special truck. I average around 16 MPG mostly city driving and 18 on the hwy.
2) My tires do not howl on the highway. They are surprising quite for their size. Did you really drive one?
3) The Raptor does have a power rear window.

The 2.7L XLT has comparable acceleration number for $20k less; especially with the ability to negotiate. The Raptor isn’t worth $20k more imo.

Not sure what's considered comparable, but a half second on 0-60 and 1/4 mile is noticeable. I suppose you could say a 2.3 is comparable 2.7, so why upgrade to a 2.7? Might as well save some more money.

I'm surprised you can get a new well optioned XLT for $37K. The Raptor is not for everyone, that's for sure, but I think it's quite a deal for what you get. The 3.0 engine, front/rear lockers, Live Valve Fox shocks, Watts Link rear suspension, and Automatic 4WD make this a special vehicle and not available on lesser models. Not to mention it comes fully loaded with a lift and 33-inch tires.

While I really like the Raptor, I didn't need one. The one thing I also didn't want was a wide truck due to my daily parking spot and while the XLT is only 4.5 inches narrower than a F-150, the Raptor fender flares make it just as wide as a regular F-150/250. Not counting mirrors.

What about the fender flares?
