New tint day! Got the windows and windshield strip done. Also tinted the Turn signals in the mirrors and the amber lights in the front fender flares.

I have a black Ranger and I'd like to darken the windows, but where I live it will get you a ticket. I read the police blotter every week and they are constantly busting people for their windows being too dark.

Tint laws vary significantly by state. Not surprisingly, the southern states and especially the desert southwest allow much darker tinting.

I got stopped in Illinois for my tinting. My truck has Texas tags, but they can still cite you. I happened to have the original window sticker that showed the tinting as an original dealer option. The cop still could have given me a ticket, but he was satisfied that I was at least legal in MY state and let it go.

I was just glad that we didn't have to discuss other laws that I'm compliant with at home and most states but not in yours.

To my knowledge, tinting on the windshield (other than along the upper part) is illegal in every state. It's for good reason ... visibility at night is terrible.

For similar reasons, most states that allow aftermarket tinting require significantly more light transfer on the front windows vs the rear and passenger side windows. The side window requirements are for visibility as well as law enforcement safety.

There is a clear film that cuts UV that we use for windshields and is legal in Arizona. We are also allowed a visor or "eyebrow" like shown in the OP's post as long as it isn't in the line of vision. I wanted a visor on mine but unfortunately I am too tall and I would have been looking right through it.

Why tint the turn signals? If you don’t want other drivers knowing what you are doing then just drain the blinker fluid! 😆
You can still see the turn signal with the tint and i hated the look of the clear turn signal in the mirrors.

It's illegal here in PA too, but in our town cops don't usually pull you over just for window tint (though it's a great excuse to pull you over if they want to). However, according to local cops and emt's I work with, they'll ticket you for everything they can if you're in an accident (including deer strikes) with illegal window tint. And they don't stop there - they make a note of where your last state inspection was done and go after them.

I think most car windshields already have UV blockers.

"Here's the catch: According to real-world testing of random vehicles in 2014, Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute in Beverly Hills, California, found that most car windshields block out around 96% of UVA rays. However, the side windows were a different story."
