If they don't make an announcement by February, I am just going to order a Colorado ZR2.

As I have said if you need a truck in 2023 I would go with the Chevy. You will still be waiting along time for the Ranger after the release date.
I don't mind waiting but I at least want them to give me something to tell me its coming in the horizon and not just be completely radio silence on it. Still hoping the announcement happens before Feb.

One of the positives of Ford waiting to see what other's will bring out is hopefully using the newly developed 2.3L. We will have to see if Ford figures they have to up the game over the top 2.7L 310Hp Chevy.

I prefer reliability over more power. the 2.3L ecoboost does its job well already according to the folks on the 5g site. I don't need more power...just reliability and hopefully better mpgs.

I'm curious to see the mpg on the colorado/canyon. I wonder if it'll be different with each tune also?

The Chicago Auto show is Feb 11th - 20th for 2023.
I'd make an uneducated guess that an announcement could happen around then, especially if they intend to still follow thru with early May production start.

To me as a Machinist, owning a 2.3L last of the 2011 NA Generations. 5 speed. Manual. Rated at 145 Hp. It can't be 4 Wheel drive. I do like to think it has lineage from the 70's Pinto Block. Yes I understand the mazda in 2000 with Ford redeveloping the 2.3L. Its come a long way. I think it will be reliable in the 310Hp. form. Forging throughout the motor. Enjoying the different way's to think about fluid dynamics. Just making the system better as a package.

How about Ford bring that Ranger to the Wayne Factory.

I am more of a Shop Floor Guy. Just come out and talk to your workers.

Go with that Moto Quality is Job One.

The all-new 2024 Mustang EcoBoost delivers with an upgraded 2.3L EcoBoost engine that produces 315 horsepower, the most standard power in a four- or six-cylinder Mustang ever. In addition, the engine delivers 350 ft.-lb. of torque.

This would be perfect!!!! Improved power and torque plus better MPG. Hell yes

"These figures apply to EcoBoost variants without the active-valve exhaust, and based on the wording of Ford’s press release, examples equipped with the optional exhaust might boast more power. In any event, the company expects the new EcoBoost engine to deliver better fuel economy than the current generation model despite the bump in power."

ICE are hitting their pinnacle of efficiency. If I can afford or finance a Ranger I will go with the ICE having hopefully the truck for over 10 years. The PHEV just adds more components to fail. Like the EV the batteries only last so long. I also do not have a place to plug one in at my apartment. Hydrogen also could be a better option in the future. Toyota is heading partly in that direction. Where Ford is an all or nothing attituded towards EV's.
