Can anyone who thinks they have no cam phaser issues please post a video of their cold start with hood open. Seeing a lot of discourse what is or isn’t a cam phaser rattle and just want to see multiple examples of “normal” cold starts

Seems normal to me. Mine sounds the same. 1,200 miles and built in late September 2024.

Normal start.
Purchased at the end of May. 3500 miles on it.

If this is a cold start this is the first one I’ve heard that doesn’t rattle
It was a cold start. Hadn't started it for something like 2 days (~48 hours-sh) prior.

Can you do another video with the hood open?
Sure thing. I did notice a tiny rattle there now, listening to the video. Though, I still think it's probably normal. It lasts less than a second. I didn't hear it from inside the truck.

*Sorry* Having a little trouble getting the video uploaded.

Lol, yeah I gave up on trying to upload a video directly here. Site seems very laggy today.

Anyway, the hood insulation seems to make a huge difference. I heard that slight rattle from mine for the first time ever when I had the hood open. With it closed I can just barely hear it when I know what I'm listening for. I don't hear it at all from inside the truck.

Here's mine again, but with the hood closed:

so weird. So either literally every truck is faulty or it’s completely normal for this engine (I’m guessing the former unfortunately lol) I have yet to hear any without the rattle. Dropped my truck off at dealer yesterday to get the window recall taken care of and showed them my videos of rattling so we’ll see what they say I guess

Mine sounds the exact same. Waiting for someone to confirm it’s normal lol.

Mine sounds like this too, and I'm not worrying about it yet. I have time mileage wise, and maybe in another year or two they will actually develop a better unit to replace them with.

Yeah just talked to me dealer and I’m gonna just pick it up I don’t want them working on it just to replace it with the same part lol. Gonna not worry about it until it gets really loud or other issues arise ??‍♂

Mine has a slight rattle at startup (500 miles), but it's nothing that would make me think there's a major issue. I've heard some of the cam phaser videos where it's really loud, but my truck built 09/24/24 seems normal. It does make a little noise that settles down within about 2 seconds of starting, but doesn't give me that nails on a chalkboard feeling. I'm a car guy and OCD AF, so I'm saying it's normal.
