My local dealer (Mullinax Apopka, FL) cannot seem to follow directions. I was looking through my service records and discovered a discrepancy. They have been alternation between Full Synthetic and Synthetic Blend oil. My preference and request when dropping off for service has always been Full Syn.

1k - Full Synthetic
5k - Synthetic Blend
10k - Full Synthetic
15k - Synthetic Blend

How detrimental is this on the engine?

As long as it meets Ford’s 5W-30 / WSS-M2C961-A1 spec, the engine is solid.

I think the real issue is the dealership... If you’ve consistently requested full synthetic, they shouldn’t be switching back and forth without telling you.

I’d make sure you weren’t charged for full synthetic when they put in a blend.

Did you not notice a big difference in what you paid for the oil changes when they were done. Doubt that it will hurt anything since that is what came in it from the factory. The Ford dealer here in Lake Havasu City says oil changes start at $125 and full synthetic $200. In Indiana I paid $90 for full syn last April for my Edge ST. They won't be changing my oil.

I just spoke with the service manager. He informed me that my pre-paid maintenance plan only includes Syn Blend. The previous times when Full Syn was used, they just wrote it off. I’m willing to pay the difference.

He admitted to the poor communication and advised the different oils won’t harm the engine - similar to what first_ranger said.

Thanks guys

Is the warranty affected if you use the correct full synthetic and change the oil yourself.
Keeping documentation of oil purchased. Does Ford have to do the first service.

As has been mentioned, you're fine switching between synthetic and synthetic blend so long as the oil meets the appropriate spec. The only "issue" I'd keep in mind when switching is I wouldn't be as comfortable going as long with a synth blend as I would a full synthetic, but with 5k mile intervals you're very likely fine with any oil that meets the spec and is the appropriate viscosity.

Unless you are really hard on your RR and are faithfully changing your oil at 5k the difference between Syn Blend and Full Syn is nil.
Extended interval oil changes or high heat heavy loads would warrant Full Syn. Dirt and acid are the real killers of engines. Dirt from nasty environments (think desert) and acid from oils exposed to excessive heat. BTW: All oil will become acidy if it is not properly maintained.
I come from an aircraft background; we never changed Jet engine oils, just the filters BUT we did monitor the acidity and contaminants, i.e. metals breakdown.
We monitored the acidity of reciprocating engines and changed that oil on an hourly basis. Oil related engine failures are virtually nonexistent if maintenance is performed correctly.
My daily driver RR will get Syn Blend at 5K intervals as did its Bronco predecessor. My wife's Bronco Sport Badlands on the other hand gets a Full Syn yearly oil change, it doesn't see 5K in 12 months. The Full Syn in her BS is because oils Will go acidity from short trips and long times between runs...

I dont have the maintenance package on my xlt. I do my own oil changes. on my 3rd one since april. my dealer told me to keep recipts for oil/filter, take pictures of the oil life remaining, with the milage before reset, and after reset, and if go to garage, that recipt. then they said once a year, or when the book calls for the service interval. get a warranty inspection done.

so for me in canada, it was 12months, or 16,000kms... I get my inspection next week. and I use the carfax care app to keep track of all my maintenance, lubing brakes, tire rotation, oil changes, etc. and you can upload "4 recipts" so I upload the oil filter from the dealer(so that is attached to my vin) the picture of the oil recipt, and then the before and after oil life rest with the kilometres in the shot aswell.

the book called foe 12months, or 16,000kms before first oil change..... break in change at 1500kms, then oil changed at 5600kms(took an oil sample) then again at 12,400kms. In march/april now when I do my 4th change or roughly 6k kms/12months, ill take my second oil sample and send both in for analysis.

@ShadowDragon24

Can you do documentation in the truck on the screen. Do it on your phone then send it to truck.

Thanks for the info.

I did not do the double battery within the truck.
Just purchased a power pack. I can charge it with the back bed plug.
At least that plug will have some use. Kinda makes sense that plug cannot power motorized tools.

I dont know if you can do it on truck and send, when I first got the truck in april. ford pass allowed you to record your maintance, and upload recipts. 3 days later, there was an app update that removed it for me in canada. ffs. lol. but this is all I do. picture of the filter recipt, filter of the oil recipt. picture of the oil life remaining(this was my first oil change at 5200kms after my break in oil change at 1600kms, after that I streatched out my change interval)then picture of oil life reset, as per the warranty dept manager.

and the 400w inverter runs my compressor just fine. and will charge my power tool batteries. and run my electric cooler(12v but no bed power yet)

But I wants the arb ranger compressor kit and hard mount the compressor up in the sode of the box where ford and arb designed it to go. maybe tax return money. lol
