One or Two Struts for the Tailgate?

2025 Ranger Lariat
I bought the Ford factory strut and the top screw in ball. Gate already had the bottom pivot on it. Works great. Nice and smooth all the way down. Only negative is the cost.
My 2025 came with that strut... If I don't hold the tailgate it will bang down. The strut I installed on my 2019 actually lowered the tailgate with no bang and I didn't have to hold it...

My factory strut lets it down smoothly, no bang.
I put one on my F350 years ago, $18 on Amazon. Still works perfectly.

I'd get it replaced under warranty. Mine works great.

I really could care less ..........it's a truck. I use it as a truck and I dont care if my tailgate drops fast or not.
I've been driving pickups for years and never needed a strut before. I'm not a wuss!
Thats my .02 cents. Off my rant now.
