If in the original thinking in Ford trucks was F-100/F-150 a 1/2 ton
A F-250 was a 3/4 ton
A F-350 was a ton

With the current payload of a Ranger at 1800 lbs.

Would that make a Ranger a
"R-250"?

Just saying.....:)

Be fun if they made a fender badge that said
R 250 rather than XLT.:sunglasses:

Actually, some people think that the Ranger should be an F100, and a Maverick an F50.
I don't think they call F250 a 3/4 Ton, is mostly referred as Super Duty.

Because that was really their payload back in the day:

Definition and Classification
The term "3/4-ton" originated as a rough estimate of a truck's payload capacity, historically meaning it could carry 1,500 pounds, or three-quarters of a ton. Modern 3/4-ton trucks far exceed this original figure, often carrying 3,000 to 4,000 pounds of payload due to advancements in frames, suspension, and powertrains. Today, the classification is based on GVWR, which includes the truck's weight, passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight. Trucks in this class generally fall into the Class 2B category, with GVWRs from 8,501 to 10,000 pounds.

A change from Ranger to F-100 (or F-75 since there used to be an F-100 full size truck?) could make sense.
