They say "rats," they see. Sadly, that's how government too frequently works.

Thanks Grand Nat! Big cities, large population, more trash for food, equals more rat/rodents. I fight the pesky little **** often because of feed for animals. It varies year to year, one year caught over 24 as the temperature got warmer some years maybe one or two. Hello Cat's! I found it interesting that a University of Richmond study back in January 2025 showed that DC had a 1.5 times increase in the rat population even over NYC. Well, I think we all know where the largest rat count is there! Looks like Hilton head SC, a resort community of about 39000 is giving them just another excuse for control (test bed anyone?)!

Most of the rats in NY stay in the subway or on farms. No problem it's the two legged ones that i worry about.

This also reminds of an anti-litter ordinance here where the find was increased to $200, or more.
Never mind every garbage truck going down the road with papers and other trash flying out. Those were excempt.

we have a large field behind our garage and used to find mice in everything. the house, the shed, the garage, everywhere.

those sticky traps and a dog in the yard fixed the issue. we have always had cats but its the females who actually catch the mice. male cats like to have the females bring them food and lay in the sun, lucky cats

That’s no lie! Rats under control panel of my Kubota tractor cost me $3400. It has two electronic rodent repellers wired to it now.

Trash in cars attracting rats? Interesting. I would think the fact that Cops are less likely to search a vehicle at a traffic stop if it's full of trash. Now that makes sense to me. I know this because I was once a Cop and it was tough going through these cars looking for hidden drugs. Did it anyway but sure hated doing it.
