For the mechanical engineers amongst the group, I think you'll be interested in a Ford patent describing a turbo anti-lag method.
My suspicion is that this is how the RR anti-lag operates.

Interesting read. I think from what I have read on the Ranger Raptor you have to be in a certain mode to keep the turbos spooled. I think the GT40 keeps the turbos spooled all the time.

Less technical explanation, but ultimately what they are doing is using a combination of boosted air (positive pressure) from the intake manifold and metered EGR gases on the exhaust side to drive the turbines during light / off-throttle operation in order to keep them spooled up so the engine can immediately build up boost again.

This creates a near-instant response like you would get once under power or like an NA engine. I believe the new LT7 Twin Turbo V8 (1,049 hp) in the C8 Corvette uses a similar technology to keep the turbos spooled up.

It's really cool to see that technology in a "budget raptor" using the 3.0L NANO engine, which is a great engine for mid-powered applications.
