I carry a small one that is less than 200W, many of the automotive designed units are around 120W.

If you search Amazon, they make a ton of 12v coolers. At a quick glance, they pull around 45 watts.

Hey, guys, I would also use mine for a powered cooler. My question is, does the cooler draw power even when the engine is turned off? Say we want to leave the cooler on while we go hiking for a few hours so we can return and have a cold one. Would it keep drawing significant power throughout the time that the engine is off? Is this an issue?

That would depend on if the power point you plug it into is accessory activated or not. I believe most are not these days so they should provide power even with the keys off. When the truck isn’t running, it will draw from the battery. This could be an issue if you drain the battery too much for obvious reasons. If you plan on using it for extended periods I would investigate some camping battery systems to use. They aren’t too expensive.
